Historia
Totalitarianism is not a coincidence and does not form in a vacuum. It arises from a collective psychosis that has followed a predictable script throughout history. In The Psychology of Totalitarianism, world-renowned Professor of Clinical Psychology Mattias Desmet deconstructs the societal conditions that allow this collective psychosis to take hold. By looking at our current situation and identifying the phenomenon of “mass formation”—a type of collective hypnosis—he clearly illustrates how close we are to surrendering to totalitarian regimes.

Hot garbage
Revisado: 06-13-23
Within the first 30 minutes, I was aware that this book would attempt to associate woke culture, climate change, and even covid lockdowns with tyranny. The conclusions he reach are idiotic, his logical structure is misguided and dishonest, and the book is not worth reading.

Historia
Doing business in China is tougher than you think. Not only is the culture vastly different, but China's experience in manufacturing is still developing. It will be a few years before the majority of manufacturers are up to world standards. In the meantime, quality, contract laws, schedules and logistics must be closely monitored. As a result, the things Westerners must do to be successful are far different from dealing with American or European manufacturers.

Extremely important, informative.
Revisado: 04-27-15
Would you consider the audio edition of 42 Rules for Sourcing and Manufacturing in China to be better than the print version?
I enjoy listening to books read by the author. I can hear her voice inside my head, which personally helps me remember more.
Have you listened to any of Rosemary Coates and Tex Texin ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
She does a fine job.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
How to avoid getting too drunk at a Chinese business banquet and accidentally eating fish eyeballs.
Any additional comments?
Very much enjoyed this book. It is dense with useful knowledge, including the invaluable do's and dont's, Chinese history, the way things get done and the way things don't get done. Business school is full of tales of Westerners barging into other cultures and completely screwing up relationships and processes for lack of knowledge about how things get done overseas, and I heard enough tales of woe to make me realize how very important books like this are. These are simple and easy-to-digest rules that could have a far reaching effect on the supply chain and then business as a whole.

Historia
Google Executive Chairman and ex-CEO Eric Schmidt and former SVP of Products Jonathan Rosenberg came to Google over a decade ago as proven technology executives. At the time, the company was already well-known for doing things differently, reflecting the visionary - and frequently contrarian - principles of founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. If Eric and Jonathan were going to succeed, they realized they would have to relearn everything they thought they knew about management and business.

Very informative, but I defer to Jim Collins
Revisado: 04-04-15
If you could sum up How Google Works in three words, what would they be?
HowGoogleWorks
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I enjoyed thoroughly how Google shirked standard business practices, and in the process became the most successful and beloved company in the world.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narration was slightly too flowery and emotionally charged for me.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The book is laced with hope.
Any additional comments?
The style of this book, in my opinion, is more "cute" than strictly informative, which will no doubt increase the enjoyability factor for many, though I personally prefer books that are more dense with information. I can't say that I added too many bookmarks, where other books are covered in them. A number of subjects went against the teachings of Jim Collins, my favorite business author, which I found a little unsettling, as I trust Jim completely but it would be foolish to ignore the methods that drive Google's earth shattering success.

What did you love best about The Personal MBA: Master the Art of Business?
This is a concisely delivered, full-scope summary of business as a whole. It is extremely dense with useful information. It delves into peripheral topics seamlessly, including the art of improving the self as it pertains to excelling in business. I would recommend this for anybody interested in any kind of business, beginner to expert.
What about Josh Kaufman’s performance did you like?

The new study: Great by Choice distinguishes itself from Collins’s prior work by its focus on the type of unstable environments faced by leaders today.

Exceptional
Revisado: 04-04-15
What made the experience of listening to Who the most enjoyable?
This book is in my top 5 business books out of about 200. It is incredibly informative, and provides meaningful and easy to follow techniques for the single most important aspect of good business: hiring the right people. I told a lot of people about this book excitedly.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Who?
Some stories had me laughing out loud.
Have you listened to any of Patrick Lawlor’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Of all the audible books, this narrator was my favorite. He is most definitely different, but I found his way of speaking to "sharp", and greatly helped me remember the material.

I assume the remaining 2/3rds of the book are good. But if I have to hear another sentence from this narrator, I will jump out of the window.
What didn’t you like about Erik Synnestvedt’s performance?
The narration was so annoying that I am returning the book.
