Historia
Telryn "Trip" Yert has always been a little odd, with hunches that are too accurate to explain. Magic is feared and forbidden in Iskandia, so he's struggled his whole life to hide his eccentricities. As a boy, he was forced to watch his mother's execution. Her crime? Witchcraft. Understandably, Trip wants nothing to do with the power that lurks within him, always threatening to reveal itself. Instead, he dedicates himself to serving as an officer in the king's army, to battling pirates and imperial conquerors. He longs to become a soldier as respected and renowned as General Zirkander.

Great story-narration meh
Revisado: 10-02-22
If you are annoyed by “t” being dropped, you might want to skip this one. I don’t recall this in the sample.
Stray-en = straighten, bah-im= bottom, high-en=heighten and so on.
I like this author and the story is very good so far.

Historia
All the stories in this collection from Stephen King are related to the Vietnam War. King fans will recognize echoes of The Dark Tower series in the collection's first story, "Low Men in Yellow Coats." As the characters develop over the next four stories, King's version of the Vietnam War becomes one of his most frightening tales ever.

Was worried
Revisado: 06-02-16
At first about the narration. Somewhere about chapter 3 I think, William Hurt finally got into it and lost the bored, uninterested, and monotone reading and came right to life! If he hadn't it would have killed a great story. At times the long pauses made me wonder if my phone was getting ready to ring. Got used to it though. Still in the middle of the audiobook with King narrating. Jury is still out on this part. I'd listen to Hearts in Atlantis again knowing what I know now!

Narrator seemed bored
Revisado: 05-30-16
Good second book if you like the genre. I listened to this book shortly after the first and was stunned at the night and day difference in narrators. Knowing that this narrator performs following books I doubt I'll continue the series. :(

Historia
Checkmate... Despite a month of peace from hybrid attacks, the constant threat of violence has the loup garou on edge. Knight McQueen's home feels like a military compound, and his people have become battle-weary soldiers. And Knight's tenuous grip on his own self-control has been further damaged by the disappearance of the only woman whose touch brings him peace.

Good story, great narration.
Revisado: 05-16-16
Slightly predictable story-line, but interesting and Xe Sands does a great job with the characters. Find someone else to read opening and ending credits. I'm surprised editors allowed that to make final cut.

LOVE the story
Revisado: 09-25-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes...Excellent story with plenty of action.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Rise of the Gryphon?
The end! I won't spoil it for anyone.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Stephen R. Thorne?
Probably not unless it was an instruction manual. He has a clear voice and reads well, but there is no definition of character; almost monotone. Listen to the first 3 books, then this one and you'll understand. I would LOVE to hear Fred Berman or Dick Hill narrate this book.

Historia
Mike Piazza was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 62nd round of the 1988 baseball draft as a "courtesy pick". The Dodgers never expected him to play for them - or anyone else. Mike had other ideas. Overcoming his detractors, he became the National League Rookie of the Year in 1993, broke the record for season batting average by a catcher, holds the record for career home runs at his position, and was selected as an All Star 12 times. Mike was groomed for baseball success by his ambitious, self-made father in Pennsylvania, a classic father-son American-dream story.

Loved this book
Revisado: 04-30-13
Where does Long Shot rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
In the top 10
What was one of the most memorable moments of Long Shot?
I watched Piazza through his career and enjoy knowing the inside stuff. Listening to this book brought back a lot of memories. Wasn't just any one thing, but the tales of his interactions with Eric Karros gave a chuckle. I laughed out loud at many of them.
Which character – as performed by Holter Graham and Mike Piazza – was your favorite?
MP for sure
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
Holter Graham was the perfect choice for narrator.
