Cliff Graham does a great job of taking stories and people from the Bible and filling in the information the Bible doesn't provide. To make a story about Caleb, any author would have to be highly creative. Caleb is only mentioned a handful of times in the Torah and in the Book of Joshua.

The only scripture moment that isn't fully explored is the expedition into the promised land. Caleb and Joshua are the only two "spies" that agree with Moses that the Hebrews should go and fight. I want Graham to add to this story. I hope and pray Graham will write a novelization of the Life of Joshua son of Nun.

I have read and enjoyed all of Cliff Graham's books. his Lion of Wars Series with David is phenomenal. Please, check his other books out of you like ancient world history or Biblical History.

This book does a great job marching the Stiger story forward. It is a welcomed read to reacquaint myself with this universe and I anticipate to see how it all ends.

This series gets better with every book. The author does a great job creating characters and making them memorable. Plus providing a great story that keeps you engaged with every detail.

There are times where the author could’ve been more aware of his own story. He once describes an enemies armor, but then never uses that in-depth description to explain what it meant. Some other nit-picky things here or there could be said too.

There’s some thing about how this one ends and ties up the story. It is difficult to say. It is easy; however, that I was cheering, crying, laughing through this entire story.

I never thought I would like this series, but sticking through the first book and talking myself into the second book, I am now hooked!

The title says it all. I will continue reading these books. The first book was a little slow and small scale. This one ramps up the intensity and story to 10.

A great Sequel to a derivative start

This review will be a dual natured review. This book is an improvement to the first novel Stiger’s Tigers. Despite the flaws this series has me hooked. I would consider the flaws minor gripes and nuanced to me. 1 flaw, is the repetitiveness the author uses. There were 3 distinct time the author repeated something... yes, I know already.

The first book was derivative on some actual historical accounts, like the Lost Eagle of the 9th Legion, to sometimes easily alluding to ideas from LotR.

There are other items, and I will say this. One gripe about the first book, was the lack of historical terms for the military components. This book clarifies why the terms and words changed. This book keeps a much better pace than the predecessor. The story in this one is overall better and I was drawn in more into the story and characters. I found myself sometimes, during the first book, being bored.

This one, though, I looked forward to seeing how it would end. I am on to the next one.

Annual Read

There are only two books I read annually: The Bible and The Iliad. Both provide insights to the culture, economics, and religion of the ancient world. The Iliad provides new insights and phrases I later go and research. As a hobby I study ancient Greek. Just as this book provides a remembrance of greatness, Arete, it inspires me to always do my best and fulfill Arete. Sure the violence may not fit today's culture, but the wisdom of Nestor, the strategy of Odysseus, the persistence of Telamon Ajax, the fatherhood of Hector, the destiny for Aeneas, and the power of Peleus's peerless son provide ideals to reach for. As I tell my students ad nauseum, Always do your Best in character and action. This book grips my Greco-Roman-phile heart. I would sleep with it under my pillow if I could.

I also tried to get my boys' middle names to be Achilles and/or Antilochus. The wife would have none of it. The wife at least approved of two other ancient inspired names.

Great story that ties Ashoka with the Clone Wars Show and leads her into the Rebels animated show.
