Historia
When 10-year-old Jacqueline Falna hears her mother’s scream, she is unaware that the axis of her world is about to tilt. Her father’s plane has been shot down by German fighters. In the midst of poverty, food shortages, air raids, and the grinding hardship of daily life under Nazi rule, she forms an unlikely alliance with David Bergier, a 12-year-old Jewish neighbor, who poses as her cousin after his family is “relocated” by the Nazis. When Rennes is liberated, Jacqueline meets an American soldier and becomes convinced that he has been sent to reunite her with her father.

Captivating story and narration
Revisado: 04-24-21
I’m a big World War II history buff. So pretty much anything in that category is going to capture my attention. The fact that this book is based on a true story made it all the more worthwhile to hear.
I had originally down loaded this for my nephew, but ended up listening to it myself as well. Cotu‘s narration brought the author’s characters to life, and I’d like to hear more from both Jackie Minniti and Jill Cotu.

By early 1940, after almost a decade of planning and implementing stricter and more aggressive anti-Semitic laws, the "Final Solution", Hitler's plan to exterminate the Jewish people, is set in place. Ethel Rosenberg, along with other members of the Young Communist League, attempts to draw isolationist America into the European war to stop the genocide. Just prior to World War II, a plan is set in place to infiltrate the highest offices of the War Department.

Great story, compelling narration
Revisado: 02-22-21
This book was listed under juvenile fiction, but I found it very engaging even for a person in their 40s. I hadn’t known much about Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, and was very interested in the facts that this story is built upon.
Schwartz’s ability to weave fact and fiction was wonderful – and the plot twists were so unexpected.
Cotu’s narration was great – I appreciated that she was able to give each character a distinct voice, and add emotional depth to an already compelling story.
