I started listening to this with my own doubts. By the middle of the first episode, I felt like I was listening to a family member who can tell & embellish stories like no other. Listening to this person felt just like my family member and I genuinely liked him. By the 2nd episode, I felt he reminded me of another family member who suffers from a severe issue of pathological lying. Truly I started to feel disenchanted by the stories and more sad for this man. He creates a world that is fantastical, heroic and insanely impressive. He makes my heart ache in so many ways because this is the world he wishes/wished he lived ... saving those who are worthy in his eyes. He wants to be this person - probably on a lot smaller scale. And, getting the opportunity to tell this allows his to feel worthy and honestly I love him and the host for that. And to be clear, I also love him for his ability to craft such fantastical stories. I also love this host. She is respectful, doesn't allow her true opinions to be known and, ultimately, cares for this individual immensely. I get that. This story is more about a human relationship ... and about how she allowed this person to have his voice heard. It doesnt matter if it is real. It is compelling and heartbreaking. I personally think it is more of a call to start listening and respecting everyone - no matter what - and to make everyone's voices feel validated. It touched my soul. So well done.
