Extremely Important Read

This book has become increasingly relevant and important since being published. and the importance is not just due to the author's assention to the highest office in the United States but the nationalist movement sweeping the US in the age of Trumpism. It delves into the struggles of the black social structure through the biracial lens. But in today's lens this turns out to be a larger allegory for the nation as a whole.

Great Urban Fantasy Mystery

This a very well made mystery with fantasy thrown in. My only criticism is that the setting wasn't utilized well. This could have easily taken place in another city next to a lake or ocean. The story is laser focus. There is no superfluous information or excessive unnecessary worldbuilding. Stylistically the chapters could have been broken up into shorter parts. I The chapters with the exception of a couple could have easily been split into two or even three. It would make the book easier to manage for the reader or listener. The performance was top notch, it match the Dresden's voice perfectly.

Magical Storytelling

This is a good book. It is a modern fairytale about trolls and monsters, love and horror, tradition and the new, and the past ryhming in the present. This is a book about books, about stories of books, the storytellers that tell them, and the stories that we tell ourselves. This is a story about nightmares being tame and reality being wild. If you are looking for an easy read, avoid this book. If you are looking for the familiar, avoid this book. If you are looking to escape reality, definitely avoid this book. This fantasy feels real. And that what makes it, a good book.

Excellent Story & Performance

This was an execellent reimagining of mythology through the lense of Amercana. The character development in the story is excellent, the world created as depth, with every chapter exploring something interesting about Americanism. A true American Fantasy novel.

Excellent Worldbuilding, Story needs to be better.

This was a struggle to finish. A couple of storylines could have been tighten or cut altogether. The story extremely drags in parts and it feels like the author realized 20 chapters in who the real protagonist are. It could be better.
