Historia
How do you define yourself when others have already decided who you are? Six years ago, when Camden Daniels came back from war without his younger brother, no one in the small town of Alba, Colorado, would forgive him - especially his father. He left, swearing never to return. But a desperate message from his father brings it all back. The betrayal. The pain. And the need to go home again. But home is where the one person he still loves is waiting. Willow. The one woman he can never have. Because there are secrets buried in Alba that are best left in the dark.

Strong language
Revisado: 10-23-24
I only got through chapter 3 and I tapped out for two reasons.
1. I hear enough foul language in my every day interactions and prefer a story that doesn’t use it. I understand the main character has a military experience and background, just not my preference for my personal entertainment.
2. As a former caretaker of a parent with dementia, this hit too close to home.

Historia
Nicola Marter was born with a gift. When she touches an object, she sometimes glimpses those who have owned it before. When a woman arrives with a small wooden carving at the gallery Nicola works at, she can see the object’s history and knows that it was named after the Firebird - the mythical creature from an old Russian fable. Compelled to know more, Nicola follows a young girl named Anna who leads her into the past on a quest through the glittering backdrops of the Jacobites and Russian courts, unearthing a tale of love, courage, and redemption.

Historia
Back in college, Jane Lewis would have given anything to be like homecoming queen Connie Bryan. Instead she was just Plain Jane - overweight, frumpy, and painfully shy. That was then. Today, a lovely and confident Dr. Jane Lewis has a thriving psychotherapy practice, her own radio talk show, a beautiful old Louisiana mansion, and her affectionate, nutty dog, Olive, to keep her company. The only thing missing is someone to share her life.

Disjointed
Revisado: 06-03-24
I felt like there were too many disconnected plot lines in the story. Everything from campus rape, guilty conscience, tragic childhood, ghosts, and dog training, I also thought there were unrealistic efforts made in resolving some of the big problems. Specifically with the main characters trying to resolve the lawsuit and game confessions from criminals in a very unsafe and unwise way. It just didn’t flow very well.

I love to being able to hear her story in her own voice. She overcame so many challenges, experience, loss, and illness, and was still positive and upbeat about her life. I thought it was written with sweet emotion and beautiful imagery.

Not my cup of tea
Revisado: 09-27-22
I put this book down shortly after chapter nine. As the characters were introduced I couldn’t relate to four women who all seemed discontented with their lives and their superficial relationships with each other and the people they claimed to love. The foul language and irreverent attitude toward love and sex turned me away. This was just not my cup of tea.
