On my second listen, I have to admit how good this series is. Great relationships, interactions, pacing characters, world building and even progression/magic system. This story really has no negatives, and is voiced really well by the narrator Vanessa.

All in all, I highly recommend.

Surprisingly better than the first

Loved the ending, although the journey getting there was a bit of a struggle (infinite facepalms @ trusting the evil demigod) - also, yay on character skill development (finally) looking forward to book 3.

Christian J. Gilliland should never to do female voices, ever.

Not sure how I feel about the sci-fi litrpg setting, I think the main issue is that the characters don't seem to have much choice in how they can develop, what powers to learn, can't choose classes etc, so I don't have much interest in the progression side of things.

Also, if you're going to have plot armour be such a big deal, make it official, quantifiable, (eg luck stat) instead of vague and far too convenient.

Slow-ish start, and now things are getting interesting. Highly recommend this series if you love cultivation and elves.

Solid second book

Really starting to get into the world, great characters with a plot that offers meaningful surprises and character growth. Will follow future publications from this author.

Stephanie's narration was top notch as always.

An absolute banger...

...by one of the best authors in the game.

I think this is one of my favourite books by Mike Truk, the care he takes in weaving plots, action and adventure, romance and explicit encounters, character arcs and interpersonal dynamics, is second to none.

The first half of this book was perfection, and while the second half might arguably feel rushed, it leads up to an extremely satisfying conclusion that gives you just enough to be happy with how things end but, still leaving you desperate for more.

If all of the above sounds amazing to you and you have yet to give this series a try, do it! You won't regret it.

Ending on a high

Back one last time with your favourite bunch of rogues.
I love how this author consistently balances action, courtly intrigue, dark fantasy, meaningful relationships and character arcs, and story-driven explicit content.
And this book is no exception, your back once more with your favourite group of rogues in a story that explores the consequences of past misdeeds.
While there's a bittersweet element to how much of this is resolved, there is a solid conclusion to a rare series set in a world in which I hope one day we could return.

God Tier Haremlit series

Pure escapism, great characters and interactions, even the litrpg elements as light as they are, are more thought-out than typical non-harem books.

It's hard not to constantly re-listen to this when I'm not sure what to listen to.

A slow burn YA litrpg

Given how short this book is, it takes a long time to get into it and fully appreciate what kind of world/game/system the characters are playing in. That said, I love how the author's pacing, prose, combat and character interactions. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the MC's powers and relationships develop.
