Historia
Frances Price - tart widow, possessive mother, and Upper East Side force of nature - is in dire straits, beset by scandal and impending bankruptcy. Her adult son Malcolm is no help, mired in a permanent state of arrested development. And then there’s the Price’s aging cat, Small Frank, who Frances believes houses the spirit of her late husband, an infamously immoral litigator and world-class cad whose gruesome tabloid death rendered Frances and Malcolm social outcasts. Putting penury and pariahdom behind them, the family decides to cut their losses and head for the exit.

What is the point?
Revisado: 03-02-23
Slow start. Slow middle. Goes nowhere for over six hours. Then, a sad slow end. So many other, better book choices. Go with anything else. This is a bore.

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Laughed, cried, and enjoyed every moment of this book. I wish Ove lived in my neighborhood.

Leaves you hanging
Revisado: 01-25-22
This series of stories frustrated me. It was tough to stay the course and hear them all. There are a lot of shocking, dark, twisty, upsetting, and sad things. None of them come to a resolution. You are simply left hanging. Disappointed. Would not recommend.
