Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Boo..just..Boo!
Revisado: 02-11-19
I am a HUGE Stephen King fan and have been for as long as I can remember. This book truly let me down! It seemed forced, FAR to political, to be honest very pandering. It seemed a lot less like an intriguing and creative story, and a lot more like "See! We hate men too..we're enlightened good guys". I always..always..finish a book that I start. This has been the one exception. I can't help myself. It is both sorely lacking in creativity, character development, and cohesive thought. All that while managing to be far to much in all the wrong ways. A combination not even thought possible, however, this book managed it.

Worth Reading
Revisado: 06-14-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Of course. At the end of the day it's Dean Koontz, enough said.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The main characters inner-dialog with herself would be the most interesting. The least interesting were the minor characters. You never got the chance to really invest in them.
Which scene was your favorite?
The ending, by far.
If you could rename The Taking, what would you call it?
The cleanse
Any additional comments?
Not my favorite Koontz book, but worth the read!

Can there be any truth in the strange and dangerous story her mother forced her to tell on camera? The search for answers leads Meredith to Darkwater Pool, the scene of the murder of a young woman, Cara, over 30 years ago. What could possibly be the link between her mother and the victim? The problem is, she's not the only one looking....

Refreshing
Revisado: 06-14-17
What did you like best about Lie to Me? What did you like least?
I did like that it wasn't a carbon copy, cookie-cutter, suspense story. It was creative, thought out, and decently written. The pace was good. You had time to get to know the characters but it didn't drag a whole lot. Jess Ryder did something not easily accomplished. She simultaneously unfolded the past and pushed forth the present. The only regret is that the ending seemed a bit rushed.
What did you like best about this story?
The cast
Was Lie to Me worth the listening time?
It most certainly was.
Any additional comments?
Destined to become a classic?? No, But definitely worth your time.

Decent over-all
Revisado: 06-14-17
What did you like best about The Lost Children? What did you like least?
Personally I loved that it wasn't "drawn out" at any point. It was fairly fast moving. However, because of this the characters by the end I didn't feel any connection with
What aspect of Alison Campbell’s performance would you have changed?
Slightly MORE emotion during the distressing and tumultuous parts.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
In theaters, No. On Netflix, yes.
Any additional comments?
Not a bad book to dive into while waiting for one you're anticipating.

Historia
A body has been found on the overlook near Mulholland Drive. The victim, identified as Dr. Stanley Kent, has two bullet holes in the back of his head, from what looks like an execution-style shooting. LAPD detective Harry Bosch is called out to investigate. As soon as Bosch begins retracing Dr. Kent's steps, contradictions emerge. While Kent doesn't seem to have had ties to organized crime, he did have access to dangerous radioactive substances from just about every hospital in Los Angeles County.

I WAS LEFT GUESSING BY THE TWISTS AND TURNS TIL THE VERY LAST PAGE! IT WAS GREAT.
What did you like best about this story?
THE WAY THE AUTHOR WAS TO USE EVERY DAY EXPERIENCES AND OTHERWISE NORMAL SITUATIONS TO WEAVE TOGETHER A BRAND NEW WORLD.
Have you listened to any of Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
NOT YET, BUT IT IS ON MY "TO DO" LIST.

IF THERE WAS A DETRACTOR IT WAS THAT THE MAIN CHARACTER CONSTANTLY STATES SHE "IS FROM THE SOUTH". BY THE END OF THE BOOK ALL I COULD THINK IS "WE GET IT ALREADY!"

In one of the most stunning debuts to come along in years, reminiscent of Philip K. Dick's best work and P. D. James' classic The Children of Men, David Oppegaard gives us a world whose near future presents some terrifying realities. The Despair has plagued the earth for five years. Most of the world's population has inexplicably died by its own hand, and the few survivors struggle to remain alive.
