Historia
A snowmelt has sent floodwaters down to the fields of the Red River Valley, dragging the body of an unidentified Native woman into the town of Ada. The only evidence the medical examiner recovers is a torn piece of paper inside her bra: a hymnal written in English and Ojibwe. Cash Blackbear, a 19-year-old Ojibwe woman, sometimes helps Sheriff Wheaton, her guardian, on his investigations. Now she knows her search for justice for this anonymous victim will take her to the White Earth Reservation, a place she once called home.

Great story! Can’t wait for the next in the series!

The different narrator threw me off a bit at first but she did a great job. I hope to hear more from this author!

Good! Not my most favorite but well worth the listen
Revisado: 02-22-23
Davina Porters narration, as always is flawless and fantastic. This story was a bit less eventful than some others and sort of brushed over some events that I would have liked to have found out what happened but overall this was a good book!

Good enough but slightly unsatisfying
Revisado: 11-23-21
Narrator was great, the first two books in the series were very good… this one was just ok. Some of the storyline felt a little too over-the-top fake. In general I enjoy books by this author so I will be back for more soon.

An unprecedented collaboration between President Bill Clinton and the world's best-selling novelist, James Patterson, The President Is Missing is a breathtaking story from the pinnacle of power.

Narrator (Dennis Quaid) is awful!!
Revisado: 08-20-19
The writing was ok at best... the female narrator was good. But Dennis Quaid lacks the range, tone, inflection and whatever else it takes to be a good narrator.

The ending is a total disappointment!
Revisado: 06-20-18
This is so far my least favorite John Grisham book and I have listened to or read most of them. everything is fine until you get to the end where it just stops. there is no resolution to the mystery. you never find out which partner is the "spy" nor does the story ever wrap up what happens with the FBI investigation, the "Benny" character or the "Associate" who declines to enter the witness protection program. The ending of this book only makes sense if it is the first in a series.... which it is not

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Painfully slow and quite dissapointing
Revisado: 02-02-18
This book was drawn out far, far too long and it never really seemed like it went anywhere. It followed the life of Theo from his tween-age years into early adulthood and a few brief interesting moments but much of seemed so pointless and added nothing to the story... This is the best analogy I can think of to describer this book... The writing felt a little bit like a story you are required to write for a class, and the teacher says this story must be a certain number of pages - I feel like the writer wrote a much shorter book and then when it was finished she realized she was sort on pages so rather than extend the story itself she just went back and added a bunch of unimportant/uninteresting bits as page filler. I did finish the book thinking there would be some great plot twist that would make the book worthwhile to listen to but instead I feel it was really anti-climactic

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn't interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet's misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.

5 stars if not for the terrible male narrator
Revisado: 11-09-17
Very good listen - if you can force yourself to get past the male narrators awful accent. It's distracting and I hope the guy who reads the next book in this series is much better.

Historia
Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town.

more a bunch of short stories than anything
Revisado: 09-07-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No... Maybe this book would be enjoyed by an adolescent but it was too simple and not my cup of tea.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The part about making cheese was the one and only part that held my interest. Mostly because I've never really thought about the actual production of the cheese and what goes into it.
Was Little House in the Big Woods worth the listening time?
I don't think so.

Before John Glenn orbited the Earth or Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, a group of dedicated female mathematicians known as "human computers" used pencils, slide rules, and adding machines to calculate the numbers that would launch rockets and astronauts into space. Among these problem solvers were a group of exceptionally talented African American women, some of the brightest minds of their generation.

Good listen-Historically significant & interesting
Revisado: 09-07-17
What made the experience of listening to Hidden Figures the most enjoyable?
The fact that it was a true story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I can't decide but I do know that I would have liked to know more about a few of the individual "computers". Their stories are so different from most history, I'm glad someone told this story to bring a bit of recognition and acknowledgement to the tremendous contributions these ladies made for their country.
Have you listened to any of Robin Miles’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not. But this one was very good.

Entertaining
Suspenseful
Interesting
Any additional comments?
I only wish it could have been longer - while I like books in a series I have trouble justifying the spending of one of my credits on anything under 14 hours or so. Since there are a dozen or so more books in the series I'd love to see them lumped together in 2-3 book series for 1 credit.
