Historia
Letting Go describes a simple and effective means by which to let go of the obstacles to enlightenment and become free of negativity. During the many decades of the author's clinical psychiatric practice, the primary aim was to seek the most effective ways to relieve human suffering in all of its many forms. The inner mechanism of surrender was found to be of great practical benefit and is described in this book.

Historia
Kiara and her brother, Marcus, are barely scraping by in a squalid East Oakland apartment complex optimistically called the Regal-Hi. Both have dropped out of high school, their family fractured by death and prison. But while Marcus clings to his dream of rap stardom, Kiara hunts for work to pay their rent—which has more than doubled—and to keep the nine-year-old boy next door, abandoned by his mother, safe and fed.

A difficult but empathic insight into where it all goes wrong!
Revisado: 05-13-23
Not an uplifting story for sure but that doesn’t mean we should turn the other way.
The depth of emotive description and the ability of this young author to internalize the emotions of the young girl at the center of the story is simply admirable!
Spoiler alert: It’s frustrating due to the lack of justice in the end but that’s the whole point. A young child faces with a system that’s not on her side! The last line is however uplifting that no matter how much destitution and abandonment she experienced she still manages to enjoy human connection,
Love and joy! I loved this book! Leila Motley 5 stars!!!

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing. But it's the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute take a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant Nobel-prize-nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Ok, entertaining but a bit exaggerated
Revisado: 11-30-22
Characters are OTT in terms of dramatization and not hugely believable but it’s very entertaining,
Makes the point reiterating madmen in parts.
Love how she personified the dog elevating it to almost human intelligence - part of the entertaining qualities.

Historia
With a compassionate realism and narrative sweep that recall the work of Charles Dickens, this magnificent novel captures all the cruelty and corruption, dignity and heroism, of India. The time is 1975. The place is an unnamed city by the sea. The government has just declared a State of Emergency, in whose upheavals four strangers - a spirited widow, a young student uprooted from his idyllic hill station, and two tailors who have fled the caste violence of their native village - will be thrust together, forced to share one cramped apartment and an uncertain future.

Possibly the best book I have ever read. Heartbreaking and warming in equal measure. Memorable!
