I did not think the material was strongly related to the topic, and found the information shallow compared to other books on conversation and relationship building.

Historia
Despite the turmoil of Arab nationalism and fundamentalism, Middle Eastern wars, and oil crises, the history of the Arab world has been little known and poorly understood in the West. One reason may be that, for more than half a century, there has been no up-to-date single volume work that chronicles the story of Arab civilization - until now.

I would have retained more with a more linear narrative. This seems more suitable for reading than listening so it can be referenced and reviewed easily.

Earases the atrocities of European explorers
Revisado: 03-17-20
I just finished Leopold's ghost, which made me want to learn more about the East African slave trade. This book had good additional insight, but completely ignores some of the worst colonial behavior of H. M. Stanley and makes him sound more heroic than I was comfortable with. Same with the approach to King Leopold and others. Very European perspective of history.

A book you've got to mine this book
Revisado: 09-04-19
The pace of the narration was super slow. I had to increase the speed to 1.4 before finding it palatable. Starts slow. Some of the longer personal stories can be skipped. Insightful, but not super engaging narrated. Perhaps better read.

Historia
The most influential work of the entire Spanish literary canon and a founding work of modern Western literature, Don Quixote is also one of the greatest works ever written. Hugely entertaining but also moving at times, this episodic novel is built on the fantasy life of one Alonso Quixano, who lives with his niece and housekeeper in La Mancha. Quixano, obsessed by tales of knight errantry, renames himself ‘Don Quixote’ and with his faithful servant Sancho Panza, goes on a series of quests.

The style of narration was very engaging. Great stories. So many comic moments that seemed familiar because they were borrowed by later humorists and adopted to other mediums.

Definition of a Hounslow Girl: a young Muslim woman who wears hooped earrings with her headscarf and grapples with traditional values while hustling her way through urban London. The Diary of a Hounslow Girl is a bold and provocative one-person play, written and performed by Ambreen Razia. I'm Simply Unable to to Hear the Audio Well
Revisado: 03-10-19
I'm very interested in the story line, both because of the intersectional aspect and because it is set in the UK. I'm only listening to it on headphones however, I don't have speakers, and have found the audio disappointingly difficult to hear. It is too quiet. I cannot hear it on the bus on a drive or while doing dishes. I am unlikely to sit and just listen, so unfortunately, I am unlikely to hear this story.

Historia
Although Roe v. Wade identified abortion as a constitutional right 45 years ago, it still bears stigma - a proverbial scarlet A. In public discussion, both proponents and opponents of abortion's legality tend to focus on extraordinary cases. This tendency keeps the national debate polarized and contentious. Professor Katie Watson focuses instead on the cases that happen the most, which she calls "ordinary abortion". Scarlet A gives the reflective listener a more accurate impression of what the majority of American abortion practice really looks like.
