Historia
Apollo is the behind-the-scenes story of an epic achievement. Based on exhaustive research that included many exclusive interviews, Apollo tells how America went from a standing start to a landing on the moon at a speed that now seems impossible. It describes the unprecedented engineering challenges that had to be overcome to create the mammoth Saturn V and the facilities to launch it. It takes you into the tragedy of the fire on Apollo 1, the first descent to the lunar surface, and the rescue of Apollo 13.

Excellently captures the time and process
Revisado: 07-09-23
The reader is excellent, dry and clear, and fits the material perfectly. The story, to call it that, follows the process of decision making and of the decision makers and the control room. The scientific benefits, the impact on the families and the country, is only touched on lightly. I thought it was very much worth listening to.

Historia
On December 22, 1953, Mort Sahl took the stage at San Francisco's hungry i and changed comedy forever. Before him, standup was about everything but hard news and politics. In his wake, a new generation of smart comics emerged - Shelley Berman, Mike Nichols, and Elaine May, Lenny Bruce, Bob Newhart, Dick Gregory, Woody Allen, and the Smothers Brothers, among others.

A mass of mostly useless detail
Revisado: 03-14-22
An extensive audit, turned into a narrative, with many brief quotations. Short on ideas and philosophy.

Historia
Once, the Lamartine Hotel was a quiet refuge for New York’s stuffy fashionable set. But by the 1890s, fashion has moved uptown, and the lobby of the Lamartine has been overtaken by natty young sports, who pass their afternoons with billiards or shows of noisy derring-do. Their preferred damsel is Lila Williams, a delicate young telegraph operator whose shyness so charms them that they resolve to defend her against any ill-behaved characters. They are about to face their fiercest challenger, who rides in the gleaming armor of a millionaire.

Fun listen for a Nero Wolfe fan

Simple, but intriguing throughout. Stout is an excellent writer, and this period piece does not disappoint.

"Too many notes... "
Revisado: 09-04-19
Very interesting, but a bit too much detail, and 95% about his career. Glad to have "read" it, but I wouldn't re-read it.

Historia
Scott Adams has likely failed at more things than anyone you’ve ever met or anyone you’ve even heard of. So how did he go from hapless office worker and serial failure to the creator of Dilbert, one of the world’s most famous syndicated comic strips, in just a few years? In How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big, Adams shares the strategy he has used since he was a teen to invite failure in, to embrace it, then pick its pocket.

Good "life hacks"
Revisado: 04-02-19
Good to finally get through the book, after listening to Adams on Periscope. I wouldn't say its gripping, but worth getting through it for the concepts.
