Gertrude, the eldest Killoran sister, has spent a lifetime being underestimated - especially by her own family. She may seem as vulnerable as a kitten, but given the chance, she can be as fierce as a tiger. Her adopted brother, Stephen, has just been snatched back by his true father, and she’ll be damned if she relinquishes the boy to the man reviled throughout London as the Mad Marquess.

Audiobook narrated by the very talented Derek Perkins. This was a fun Novella to listen to. Lily is a strong independent woman who is not easily swayed by a handsome Highlander - not that she isn't tempted! She is determined to make her own way in life and not depend on others. Lily has a talent for healing and well she knows it. Nothing wrong with a woman knowing her self worth and having the confidence to say so. Lily does not make it easy for Roderick MacDonald. The story reminded me of someone finally coming home. The epilogue was the perfect ending to a great story.

AN ABSOLUTELY MUST LISTEN!!!
Revisado: 10-12-15
This is not your sugar sweet honey romance. This is a Scottish romance series with fierce highlanders, evil villains and political corruption. That is not to say the romance is not breathtaking! It gets very hot!
The story Mallory weaves is one that will keep your full attention from start to finish. There are so many interesting characters in this book and she does an amazing job connecting the reader with each one. In short, David, is a sexy bad ass hero and Alison, is a meek and mild heroin who tames the bad boy. But first, Alison must overcome the emotional abuse of feeling worthless and weak. It all starts with a burning bed and the fierce protectiveness of a mother.
It's been a long time since I have been so captured by a story. Be prepared to stay up late at night listening to the very talented Derek Perkins. I can't wait for book 2 Claimed by a Highlander!!

Very Disappointed!!
Revisado: 08-06-13
I now have this book on my Nook, Kindle and Audible and still disappointed.
My review in 2012 was so different from the many other great reviews I just had to try this book again. I decided to put out more money and purchased the audio narrated by Angela Dawe. The first audio book has so many wonderful reviews I figured it would be worth it.
Unfortunately, it was wasted money. I really struggled to finish the audio book. I'm definitely not a fan of Dawe's narration. There was very little to no British or Scottish accent in the narration.
Dawe narrates slowly when the characters are speaking then faster during the book's narration parts. Cameron, Ainsley and Daniel's voices are all unpleasant deep husky tones and often sound so similar. Ainsley's voice is not consistent - sometimes it sounds more like Cameron than Ainsley - then other times uses a softer voice for Ainsley that is almost pleasant.
Both Ian's wife, Beth, and the side character, Philadelphia Chase's voices are very pleasant - I wish Ainsley's voice was similar. Another disappointment is that there's very little emphasis during the intense and exciting parts - it's all pretty much the same throughout.
I've recently listened to a "Highland Surrender" narrated by Sarah Coomes and was blown away with the talent of Ms. Coomes.

AN ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!
Revisado: 07-31-13
Just absolutely amazing! Kirsten Potter's voice was so pleasant and the many many voices she had to use were very distinctive. I would highly recommend this audiobook to everyone.
There were many twist and turns throughout the book that kept me on my toes. Truly, this book had all the elements that make a great book. I never wanted it to end. I fell in love with both Annique and Grey - along with the rest of the crew.

Not a big fan of Amanda Quick
Revisado: 07-30-13
This is my second book by Amanda Quick and I have to confess I'm not a big fan. I loved the plot but I don't care for the writing. I find her books to be really slow moving and too much of the story was told through narration rather than through the characters themselves. I just wanted to skip pages but on audio that's not quite so simple. At Ch. 6 I was ready to put it but instead decided to push through it.
The audio book is narrated by Barbara Rosenblat. I'm not quite sure if I'm a fan of Ms. Rosenblat. The characters were clearly distinctive and she did an awesome job with the many characters but I didn't care for the husky voice of the males and I thought the female voices were a bit too sweet... high pitched. I do plan on listening to another one of her narrations as I've heard really good comments from others listening to Ms. Rosenblat.
I purchased both the Kindle ebook to get the audio at a reduced price for a total of $11.98 - money sadly wasted.

I wish it would had gone on and on!
Revisado: 07-27-13
What made the experience of listening to Silent Revenge the most enjoyable?
Everything! The story and the narrator were both amazing. I loved the voice by Rosalyn Landor. It was very clear who was speaking and I couldn't help but get swept away with the story. It has a little of everything with love, romance, danger, suspense and in the end... the bad guys get what they deserved!
What other book might you compare Silent Revenge to and why?
I came across Laura Landon when listening to one of my first audio books narrated by Sarah Coomes who is another amazing narrator.
What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The diction, emotions and being swept away with the story. I choose this book after reading comments made by others of how wonderful Rosalyn Landor is as a narrator. I was not disappointed and look forward to listening to more books narrated by her.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The eyes will see what the ears cannot hear.
Any additional comments?
Make sure you have plenty of hours to listen to this book because you will not want to stop once you start!

Where does Surrender to the Devil rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
2 out of 5
Would you be willing to try another one of Susan Ericksen’s performances?
Not sure I'm a fan of Susan Ericksen. Biggest issue was every "s" sounded like "shhh" with a bit of a whistle sound such as Shhh..urrender to the Devil - I even tried to reload the audio but same thing. There were many times when it wasn't clear who was speaking. She was awesome with the voices of the lower class but there wasn't really any clear voice distinctions between the main characters.

If you could sum up What the Duke Desires in three words, what would they be?
Great story but a tad bit too much narration by the author. I prefer stories to be told through the characters dialog rather than pages of narration telling me what they feel and thing. The audio book narrated by Corrie James was excellent - Corrie James is a new favorite of mine!

Great Story - Wasn't impressed with Audio voice
Revisado: 07-10-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I was not impressed by Susan Ericksen narration. Quite often I wasn't sure if she was speaking the voice of someone or if it was narration - the tone seemed to be too similar throughout. There was either a very slight or no clear distinction between the male and female characters. The main characters, Catherine and Luke, had very similar tones to the point I couldn't always tell who was speaking. The tone/accent from the side characters (I guess I would say the lower class) were very good but that's the only time she really changed her tone or accent. Susan Erickson's voice itself is not unpleasant but I would have preferred more distinction between characters. This was only my 2nd audio book - the first was narrated by a Sarah Coomes and I was very pleased with her changes in voices, her English accent was really pleasant and loved her Scottish brogue. I could always tell her who was speaking and the voices of each character was the same throughout the story. As to the story itself... I am a huge fan of historical romance and read them often. I found the story to be unique and enjoyable but I thought it included way too much narration and not enough from the characters themselves. I prefer the characters themselves to tell the story rather than read narration.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
More distinct tones/accents between the characters.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Susan Ericksen and Antony Ferguson ?
Sarah Coomes. Antony Ferguson had such as small speaking part that it's difficult to really comment. His voice was pleasant..
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It was a unique and interesting story and it kept my interest. I can see how so many love this book. For me personally, I prefer a story to be told through the characters with more dialect and less narration.
Any additional comments?
When I saw the two names, I assumed the main two characters would be voiced by Susan Erickson and Antony Ferguson. It would had been helpful to know that his speaking parts were only for the diary and prolong and the epilogue. I'm new to audio so this may be common knowledge to others but it wasn't to me.
