Born in shadow and kept from heads of state, there are some missions so deadly, so sensitive, that they simply don't exist. so deadly, so sensitive, that they simply don't exist. When one such mission goes horribly wrong, a wave of dramatic terrorist attacks is set in motion. Their goal: the complete and total collapse of the United States. With the CIA's intelligence abilities hobbled, former Navy SEAL Team 6 member turned covert counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath launches an audacious plan to infiltrate the terrorists' network and prevent one of the biggest threats the U.S. has ever faced.

Boring
Revisado: 10-17-17
Author needs to take lessons from Vince Flynn. Havens books seem to be taking place in two places at once to converge predictably and a real chore to get there. I put the speed on 2x and could only get half way through the book.

Probably not
Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Narration is very monotone
Revisado: 06-02-16
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Hard to follow the story line because of the bad narration monotone to the point of being painful. Story jumps around a lot.

Historia
The president knows it's a perilous, high-risk assignment. If he gives the order, he has the opportunity to take down a global menace, once and for all. If the mission fails, he would face certain impeachment, and the threats against the nation would multiply. So the president turns to the one team that can pull off the impossible: Will Robie and his partner, Jessica Reel. Together, Robie and Reel's talents as assassins are unmatched. But there are some in power who don't trust the pair.

bounces around poorly written
Revisado: 09-21-15
Would you try another book from David Baldacci and/or Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ?
No. Narration is God Awful
What do you think your next listen will be?
Dewey Andreas
What didn’t you like about Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s performance?
Stoic sounded like a high school-er reading a story in class. No emotion puts you to sleep.Really hard to tolerate after listening to Jay Snyder in the Gray Man.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Target?
The whole story.
Any additional comments?
I find the 5 stars, especially for the performance, inexpicable .

superficial detective/spy story
Revisado: 04-14-15
What disappointed you about Breach of Power?
Far fetched not much of a real story line
What was most disappointing about Chuck Barrett’s story?
"US president ordering assassinations of US Senators" President routinely dealing with covert team of spy/assassins. Numerous characters story "bounces around".
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Scott brick is one of the best narrators but you gotta have a good story to tell.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None tedious to listen to.

Would you try another book from Robert Littell and/or Scott Brick?
Yes The Company was a great read and Brick did a great job.
Would you ever listen to anything by Robert Littell again?
Yes same as above. Maybe he just needed time to mature as a writer.d
What character would you cut from The Once and Future Spy?
Nate
Any additional comments?
The back and forth between the civil war and present was hard to follow. The characters and their names were almost comical. Story was "disjointed". I stopped listening halfway through part two.

Historia
"If Robert Littell didn't invent the American spy novel," says Tom Clancy, "he should have." In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says ( Publishers Weekly).
