Volume control anyone?
Revisado: 08-04-10
What is it about Stephen King's audio books that they just can't seem to get the volume levels working? This is a great book and the narrator for the most part is great too. The problem however, when the narrator shouts or raises his voice as the script may call for, I had to quickly turn down the volume. And of course when he whispered or lowered his voice I had to turn up the volume. Not a big deal in most cases but when a book is as long as this one there is alot of volume adjusting going on. I can't for the life of me figure why the producers of this audio book didn't properly adjust the levels. Very annoying to say the least. Other than that this book is well worth the purchase.

Historia
A dark and sweeping adventure, Dreamcatcher is set in the haunted city of Derry - the site of Stephen King's It and Insomnia. In it, four young boys stand together and do a brave, good thing, an act that changes them in ways that they hardly understand. A quarter-century later, as grown men who have gone their separate ways, these friends come together once a year to hunt in the woods of Maine.

Good listen
Revisado: 06-27-10
For some reason this was one King book I could never get through when reading. Perhaps it was because I saw the really awful movie version before reading that put me off. I enjoyed the audio version and it is much much better than the movie, as is the case with most King adaptations to screen. I would have preferred a little bit happier ending but then again .. its King. Good narration and not annoying as some of King's narrators.

Rushed ending.
Revisado: 06-27-10
I really enjoyed the majority of this book but as I find sometimes with long novels the ending for this was rushed. The story line was fantastic and I wish the author had either decided to make a second novel or allowed the ending to take its time and not just go BANG in a couple chapters. There were alot of things happening at the end and it just seemed like the author capped it too quickly. Maybe an editorial decision? Of note the narration was good however there were a number of times a sentance would have just ended and immediately, without a breath, the next chapter would be announced. I believe this to be an error in production but it was annoying.

Historia
On a brisk autumn day, a 13-year-old boy stands on the shores of the gray Atlantic, near a silent amusement park and a fading ocean resort called the Alhambra. The past has driven Jack Sawyer here: His father is gone, his mother is dying, and the world no longer makes sense. But for Jack everything is about to change. For he has been chosen to make a journey back across America - and into another realm. One of the most influential and heralded works of fantasy ever written, The Talisman is an extraordinary novel of loyalty, awakening, terror, and mystery.

Awful Narrator! Great Book.
Revisado: 05-25-10
I loved this book when I read it. I can't stand it now that I am listening to it and that is due to the narrator. He is breathy and has an awful habit of drawing out the last word of almost every sentence. It is absolute torture to try to listen to this book with this narrator. I will never, ever, ever, purchase another audio book narrated by Frank Muller. If you are someone who can ignore annoying narrators then I recommend this book bacause it is an absolutely wonderful story and that is the reason I have given it two stars. If you are like me, and find annoying narrators as irritating as nails scratching on a chalk board, I suggest you pass this one up.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

A great listen!
Revisado: 04-11-10
This is definately an Orson Scott Card classic. I have read and re-read this book over the years and I loved listening to it. The narrators were fabulous and though I can't figure which character it was, Card was in there too. The author's note at the end is definately worth listening to.

Historia
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Finally!!
Revisado: 04-11-10
I am a die hard King fan and have read everything he's written ... including the disappointing last 8 years of stuff. This book is excellent, classic King at his best!!! What makes this audio book so excellent is the narrator. Esparza is simply fabulous. He maintains all the characters, and damn there is alot, with distinct and believable voices. I especially love how he's got Big Jim's drawl and sanctimonius tone to a tee. If you've never heard an audio book this is the one for you. If you aren't a King fan, you will be. If you are a King fan you'll be thrilled!

Confused time line and story stream
Revisado: 12-29-09
I round the narrator to be quite good in this book especially with the pronunciation of the various languages. I found however that the story line confused the hell outta me and I was often not sure where it was going. For me the author never really described the "divination" or "sacrifice" game in a way that i had any more than a vague understanding of how it worked/looked or was even played.
The pace of the book was very slow once you got past chapter 1. I liked how it opened and was really disappointed with how long it took to get back to the opening action. The author seemed to use alot of obscure words for describing things and for me it really confused the whole story which I think could have been quite brilliant given its subject. I suffered through the audible and was faintly entertained but I've listened to much better.
