Historia
In a remote corner of early Victorian England, where traditional practices remain untouched by time, Bathsheba Everdene stands out as a beacon of female independence and self-reliance. However, when confronted with three suitors, among them the dashing Sergeant Troy, she shows a reckless capriciousness that threatens the stability of the whole community. Published in 1874, and an immediate best seller, Far From the Madding Crowd established Thomas Hardy as one of Britain's foremost novelists.

The drama! (100xs Better than the movie)
Revisado: 09-24-24
I read this book during my lunch breaks at work and my co-workers would eagerly await my retelling of the saga! All the drama of a soap opera but with much more charm and proper accents. This was my first Hardy novel and I found it beautifully written and entertaining to boot.

Pulled at my heartstrings
Revisado: 09-24-24
Hubert Bird pulled at my heartstrings in every way possible. Loss and loneliness teetered with love and hope throughout the book. Alternating between Hubert's past experiences and his current circumstances made it an enjoyable but thought-provoking read. Hopefully it inspires many to get out of our own world and look around at who else's life we can brighten.

Historia
This true story - as true as Lemony Snicket himself - begins with a puzzling note under his door: You had poison for breakfast. Following a winding trail of clues to solve the mystery of his own demise, Snicket takes us on a thought-provoking tour of his predilections: the proper way to prepare an egg, a perplexing idea called “tzimtzum”, the sublime pleasure of swimming in open water, and much else.

Surprisingly Entertaining
Revisado: 09-24-24
I hate to admit I have not read anything by Lemony Snicket until this little ditty. I thoroughly enjoyed it, perhaps in large part due to Patrick Warburton narrating, but it was also amusing and witty and quirky. It made me want to take a chance on more by this author, so well done sir.

Perfect amount of suspense
Revisado: 09-24-24
I am not the sort that wants to have nightmares about anything sinister. This was just the right amount of creepy suspense that kept me on tenterhooks. I plowed through it, even listening long into the night! After finishing, the twists had me eagerly re-listening to many chapters to realize I didn't know what I thought I knew! (It was such a great "read" I was eager for friends to read it so we could discuss!)

Cute and Refreshing
Revisado: 07-09-24
I thoroughly enjoyed this listen and zipped right through it! It was cute, clean, and interesting in that it took place on a specific day of the year over a 10-year period. I was invested in the characters and gladly went on their life roller-coaster with them.

Isadora is intelligent, honest, and a little bit broken - making her all the more relatable. On her quest to figure out what happiness is, she hits some highs and lows, encountering charming, lovable characters at every turn. Hilarious and heartwarming, I would definitely recommend.

Fun mystery with lovable characters
Revisado: 09-26-23
This was a fun mystery with lovable characters. I laughed, I...almost cried. Eunice Wong made these characters come alive! One thing that bothered me though - with all of Vera's spare time and habits I can't imagine her shop would be so dirty and dusty. Took off a star for the F-bomb that was dropped way too many times.

Overall a fair mystery, but a lot of foul language
Revisado: 09-26-23
Overall a fairly good mystery. The classic overachieving parent clique made for a plethora of fun suspects with big personalities. Negatives were the foul language and the main lead character (Paige) that wasn't worth rooting for.
