Where to start.....

I have to rant. I have never felt the need to rant so badly.

Problem 1 : the tone in the story. So I like the idea of this story and thought it had a lot of potential. However, the way it was written and narrated just came off very immature. A lot of the 'humor' felt very juvenile and repetitive. For instance, the main female would go on explicit cursing rants. Now I don't mind some tasteful cursing now and then, but how often she did it and the reasons just felt forced. It was done more for 'shock value humor' for the character and I felt it unnecessary.

Problem 2: the narration. Now I may be had a better option on the story if it was better narrated. The problem I had with it was that both main characters sounded awful at times. The main male sounded like a juvenile half the time and the main female sounded like a southern valley girl....(which should never be a combination). It was hard to listen through some of the dialogue and whenever the main male 'lost his temper' he sounded like a 3-year-old throwing a temper tantrum (not sexy at all). At times I felt like the only adult in the room and could not take them seriously.

Problem 3: the characters and their development. So I had some issues with the characters, now this is just me but I need to share. I felt that they were inconsistent and not thoroughly explored. For instance, the main female is supposed to be an independent computer genius who is introverted. She gets kidnapped and makes a big deal about it, then after one night, she accepts the fact that she is the main male's mate and moves into his world without any more fuss. Her profession/computer genius is rarely brought up (unless it is moving a plot point forward) and with being such an 'introvert' she does very well associating with new people. My deep inner feminist could not get over how easily she just accepted everything and how this man was her life now. Also, for being a 'genius' she INTENTIONALLY pulled out the pin of a grenade thinking you could just 'put it back in' cause you know, that 'would be funny'. And then the main male has to spirit her way for sex right after without any kind of discussion over her actions just astonished me.

Problem 4: plot holes / issues. So for starters, she is human and nearly everyone involved is immortal that has been around for 100s of years. At no point was this issue brought up over the fact that she human with a limited life span and is a mate to an immortal man. How is it going to work in the long run? Then there was the plot point of the missing couple's investigation that barely got addressed and seemed like an afterthought. Then there was some random stalker that I have no idea when he crossed her path in the first place to make her a target.



I have to say one thing I did like about this story (shocking I know) was that fact that women's periods are a thing and happen in life. In most romance novels you don't really hear about sex being postpone due to the monthly. It seems like they don't happen unless there is a possible baby involved.

Overall it was just ok. Things didn't really start going downhill until about halfway through the book. If you are looking for something really light and non-complex this is the series for you, however, if you are looking for something more mature...keep looking.

You have to read the first book

I kept seeing ‘stand alone’ but it’s not. The first chapter they are way into the relationship. No back story, no how they meet, nothing. I’m sitting here wondering if I missed something, if something didn’t download in the book. I was so confused.

Idk maybe this is the way the author writes, but I like stories with relationship context at the beginning. Like first meeting, falling in love, not in the physical relationship already in love.

I feel like it is a same. I like the type of story, but afraid to purchase any thing else from this author since I don’t know if I’m going to get a back story or not.

It’s not for me.

Was good at the beginning, but ended corny

I really liked the idea behind the story at the beginning and for the most part liked the story about 4 hrs in, but that is where it lost me.

Some of the big issues and conflicts of the story were resolved to easily. To many things were wrapped up in a big beautiful bow that was unrealistic.

I’m all for a happy ending, but if it ends too easily and nicely it makes me lose interest. Also, how fast the fell in love was a bit corny.

Stopped listening about 5 hrs in

I was drawn into this book by the description. The story I got was not what I was expecting and in a bad way. I got about 5 or so hours in and just stopped listening because I didn’t really care how the story or the characters were going to end. I felt like scenes and the plot were repetitive and the story wasn’t really going anywhere.

Potential Spoilers

I know its fiction and romances move fast, but the male playboy falling in love practically over night didn’t seem realistic. There isn’t a lot of charter building, just the same drama over and over.

The female lead was the most annoying character. She is very back and forth over her feelings for the male. She says she’s done then he comes around to screw her and she is back with him only to run away again. I also don’t think it’s practical that the male lead gets rejected repeatedly and keeps coming back. Then there is the whole drama with her coma induced sister and the relationship the male lead ‘might’ have with her. Like if they sit down and talked rather than have sex things would be much more clear between them.

One thing that became annoying because it felt really repetitive was that it seamed every sex scene began with a BJ and how much she just loooovvvvveeeessss his dick. I don’t know any women that are that into it and feel that the guys dick can solve world problems. I’m not saying don’t have them in there, but something that is generally geared more towards women shouldn’t have soooo much focus to it, but that’s just my opinion.

All in all I became really board with the story and lost interest. I feel like the characters could have taken more time to build the tension between them and get to know each other better before having sex. It could have solved some of the issues the characters were facing. I was really looking forward to starting the series, but after this book I’m not going to use more credits to find out how his friends romantic lives are going to end.

One good thing about it was the performance. I really like duel narrative and feel that it helps distinguish the characters when in their POV.

The story was just eh. I felt like the main female character was a little annoying and the secondary male character was extremely annoying. I don’t mind some swearing but dear Lord there was a little bit too much from the secondary male character. Like every other word was f*ck out of his mouth.

The story line took any interesting turn that I didn’t expect, there were some very funny moments , but over all I wasn’t impressed.

I knew going in that it wasn’t going to be good. There are too many supernatural elements to keep up with in the story. It would be better if the author stuck to one or two.

The narration for the male sounds childish and un sexy. It was really hard to get into.

If you want a cute ridiculous story then it would be good. It is not something I would follow

It was ok, but hard to get through

I read this series out of order with listening to the 3rd one first and really liking it, so i ordered other books from this series. The first half was depressing, i understand why she would be sad, but it dragged really long and i felt like a lot of emotions were repeated and dragged out too much. Then their relationship was complicated, and i felt like it was really back and forth and they kept contradicting themselves. I almost stopped listing half way through, but stuck it out. Overall not my favorite read.

story was OK, but thought main female was a little annoying. at times it was funny, but I felt like she was really immature. I also didn't like that the main male didn't have a pov. it was all from her or the stalker, Wich felt like I didn't get the whole story. finished the book, but won't be getting the others.
