syphilis is caused by a bacterium, not a virus. this is supposed to be nonfiction, but the author repeatedly misattributes a disease cause more than once. this book is not consistently scientifically accurate. that’s not ok. if you’re reading this book for information rather than entertainment, please stop and find a more accurate depiction.
i guess it could be the narrator who is the issue, but i suspect the book is just poorly written and edited.

i came to this series vs the various bunny mcgarry and pals series and i must say that caimh just doesn’t miss with comedic timing. looking forward to reading the rest of this series. .

i’m an american reader (though i do love crime novels set in the UK and ireland) and caimh is amazing.
let’s be honest: the readers who complain about things like “anti american sentiment” or “politics” are ABSOLUTELY the people you think they are. the rest of us adore your writing.

i have listened to the dublin “trilogy” (teehee) three times in a year. i also know what happens and have read the McGarry Stateside books (love that Diller is named after your doggo or vice versa) and i still weep EVERY TIME i listen to this prologue. it’s absolutely a testament to how incredible your characters are…especially this one. <3

best and most realistic depiction of pregnancy that i’ve ever heard

let’s be honest: pregnancy isn’t what they’d have you believe. i don’t know if it’s a bunch of people who want others to experience the horrors they endured, or what. i have the equipment necessary for pregnancy but am grossed out by the entire process.
the depiction of this grotesquely pregnant woman is absolutely spot on-if pregnant folks were honest about the experience.
frankly, i know women who now wear diapers or have to use a wheelchair because of their pregnancies. not for me kthxbai.
