Historia
For too long, Africa's history has been neglected. Dominated by western narratives of slavery and colonialism, its past has been fragmented, overlooked and denied its rightful place in our global story. Now, Zeinab Badawi guides us through Africa's spectacular history, from the origins of humanity, through ancient civilisations and medieval empires with powerful queens and kings, to the miseries of conquest and the elation of independence.

very interesting history of Africa.
but far too much blame and sorry for the author.
Also a hole lot of "the sun was shining from a blue sky, when I walked dow. the .... to meet mr/ms/? so-and-so"
(boring and selfish)

Woke semi science
Revisado: 10-15-22
somewhat interesting, but only true to science ~ 90% of the book.
especially the last chapter is a piece of wannabe feelgood science.
Also a few cases where the opposite term is used (no big deal, but worrysome)

Historia
In this paradigm shifting book, Dale Bredesen, MD, offers real hope to anyone looking to prevent and even reverse Alzheimer's disease and cognitive decline. Revealing that AD is not one condition, as it is currently treated, but three, The End of Alzheimer's outlines 36 metabolic factors (micronutrients, hormone levels, sleep) that can trigger "downsizing" in the brain. The protocol shows us how to rebalance these factors using lifestyle modifications like taking B12, eliminating gluten, or improving oral hygiene.

Unusable as audiobook - but interesting content
Revisado: 10-08-22
This is sad.
The content seems to be very good and interesting, but it contain a million lists (and similar data) which is completely unusable as and audiobook, At some point you will simply fade out and wait for all the long lists to simply end....
The Narrator is good, and deserves 4 stares, but he should have pushed Audible to release an pdf along with the sound.

Historia
For the past few hundred years, most of what we’ve been taught about the native cultures of North America came from reports authored by the conquerors and colonizers who destroyed them. Now - with the technological advances of modern archaeology and a new perspective on world history - we are finally able to piece together their compelling true stories. In Ancient Civilizations of North America, Professor Edwin Barnhart, Director of the Maya Exploration Center, will open your eyes to a fascinating world you never knew existed - even though you’ve been living right next to it, or even on top of it.

60% Stoicism + 40% waste of time
Revisado: 08-24-21
The first part is actually on stoicism - and quite interesting too.
somewhere around 60% it turns into a listing of "Stoics are:" and a looooong list of super human traits. This part is so degrading for the topic, as it seems as if stoics are persons who like to listen to long lists about how great/superior they are....
Last part is marketing of other books... very annoying to me.

History is full of sensational financial frauds and scams. Enron was forced to declare bankruptcy after allegations of massive accounting fraud, wiping out $78 billion in stock market value. Bernie Madoff, the largest individual fraudster in history, built a $65 billion Ponzi scheme that ultimately resulted in his being sentenced to 150 years in prison. People from all walks of life have been scammed out of their money.

LooserBOOK
Revisado: 11-08-19
Possible a good book if you only plan on reading one book every 10 or 20 years.
This book contains nothing but Scott talking in "I am god"-mode, with no new or event recent information.
Scott explains a bit of basic economics - in case you are not knowledgeable in that domain. everything else is just yada yada yada.
I own all Scotts previous books and i love them, but this one should never have been.
Dear Scott: please check if the battery in your pager is inserted the wrong way around.
(In case you did not read his previous books, this is a reference to his own text stating that we all act like ..... sometimes)
Do not buy this book unless you are clueless.
Come again Scott.

Historia
We live in the age of the algorithm. Increasingly, the decisions that affect our lives—where we go to school, whether we can get a job or a loan, how much we pay for health insurance—are being made not by humans, but by machines. In theory, this should lead to greater fairness: Everyone is judged according to the same rules.

80% irrelevant spam, 20% important ham
Revisado: 09-29-19
Cathy has many very good points, and take the reader to a higher level. I find this book important.
...But...
It is really annoying that every good point is followed by a long rant about "evil big corperation" / "evil anti lbgt" / "this is unfair!" / "immoral" /"evil racist"...or whatever Cathy feels at the moment of writing.... Very annoying.
I hope that Cathy will figure that "Fairness" is impossible to define across time, place and culture, and then edit the book to simple point out her strong base points.
I found it very hard to finish this audiobook, especial the "Conclusion" chapter - it is a highly political chapter trying to put Cathy on the highest moral grounds in the universe.
Conclusion: The book has some very interesting content, but 80% spam.

Factfulness: The stress-reducing habit of carrying only opinions for which you have strong supporting facts. When asked simple questions about global trends - why the world's population is increasing; how many young women go to school; how many of us live in poverty - we systematically get the answers wrong. So wrong that a chimpanzee choosing answers at random will consistently outguess journalists, Nobel laureates, and investment bankers.

There is good reasons to read this book, it contains many great insights.
but you need to overcome a few misfires, which he actually indirectly addresses in other people's work :-)
