Historia
A horse breeder by trade, Corbin Jonquil is more at home in the stables than in the ballroom of his sprawling estate. Corbin is the quietest of the Jonquil brothers and has always faded into the background, contentedly unnoticed. When a mysterious young widow, Mrs. Clara Bentford, moves into the neighborhood, however, Corbin quickly comes to realize that being noticed has its advantages. But how to catch the eye of the lady? According to his brothers, Corbin need only make a few simple changes.

An American reader
Revisado: 12-04-20
I really liked the story but I continued to think about why use a American to read a British regency novel, but getting past that it was a good clean novel

Historia
A sequel faithful to Jane Austen's beloved masterpiece, Pride and Prejudice. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy have been married for almost a year, and their heated arguments are a thing of the past. All that passion is now directed into more satisfying pursuits. But how long can the honeymoon last? The Darcys of Pemberley is the tale of two romances: the continuation of Darcy and Elizabeth's story, and the courtship of Miss Georgiana.

I felt Ms. Winslow should have spent more time with the story and less alluding to Darcy and Elizabeth's sex life

Historia
Lord Thurlby can only ever recall previous visits of Lavinia Muir, his mother’s goddaughter, with a shudder. So it is with undisguised horror that he hears she is to come and stay again. Her arrival on the common stage, accompanied by the flirtatious Isobel Macclesfield, does nothing to allay his fears. When he learns that Lavinia has become entangled with the rakish Lord Riseholm, his reservations appear to be justified.

A Country Gentleman by Ann Barker
Revisado: 01-03-16
What made the experience of listening to A Country Gentleman the most enjoyable?
I was happy to find another author to add to my favorites list and get excited about
What did you like best about this story?
the fact that I was kept wondering how Lavinia who was shy and not having any friends was going to extricate herself from the machinations of her friend Isobel and have everything come about and it was a clean story
What about Gordon Griffin’s performance did you like?
I like a reader who is enthusiastic and not just reads to get thru the project, and he did a very good job and I was well satisfied with the reading
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yes I did, but with my schedule I was unable to and I'm a person who needs and has (for the most part) regular hours, particularly for sleep, although I did miss my bedtime some but that's ok :)
Any additional comments?
I found A Country Gentle by Ann Barker quite by accident. I have read Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer, more than once and I really like historical fiction, in particular the Georgian/Regency era and I keep alert for other writers of that genre. I’ve read many that I like but none that I thought compared to Austen or Heyer. When I found this I decided to give it a try and I’m very glad I did. It is a very good, clean read, and it had me looking for other books by this author and I found them, seven so far. Currently on Jilted, now that I found them I’ve started with the first and will go through them all. This second promises to be just as good and I’ll be looking for more from her.
