Not the traditional ww2 story.

There were several times that the story took a different turn from what one expected. It conveyed the angst and serious tone but also highlighted how people had to go on living even while under occupation.
Listened with my 12 and 14 yr old boys. They liked the story. Suspenseful at times but not overly dramatic. Was very broad strokes with regard to the war, politics and MC’s missions.

Funny witty dialogue, likable characters. Perfect male narrator. Totally has a “towel just out of the dryer” voice. The dual pov was entertaining. But NOT happy that there was no HEA yet. Please please don’t torture us and take a long time to publish the next one!!

Just right ending

Love Scarlet, predictably unpredictable. Admire Lex’s tactical brain despite her self deprecation and locus of control issues.
But geez girls, could someone in fiction grab hold of some boundaries? Not all calamities or outcomes are your fault. It’s an irritating fictional plot staple these days. Misbegotten guilt all over the place!
Over all good wrap up satisfying and yet not cookie cutter. Good job.

Fantastic as usual

I love Veronica’s approach to her relationship with Stoker. No vacillating. No prevarication. There was plenty of plot so that the threat of relationship destruction doesn’t need to be employed to have adequate drama/conflict to over come. She is strong enough to appreciate Stoker without needing to subjugate him nor throw him off in her attempt to prove her independence. Thank you Ms Raybourn for providing us with quality literature and a heroine we can thoroughly enjoy!

Unusual and unique magical system. Rounded characters without stereotypic features. Imaginative storyline that progresses steadily enough to keep an adult reader fully engaged. Aside from being very astute heroine actually seems to behave and think like a 12 yr old.
Very impressed. Hope Ms Townsend continues turning out the stories!

Cute premise. Started off funny. But like so many of Ms. Langlais novels it becomes too serious about 1/2 way through where Chloe makes a big deal out of needing to accept that her lovers are monsters.

Wow! Creative, suspenseful, steamy when appropriate. Often the sex is thrown in to the action in implausible moments when trying to merge romance and action genres. This flows really well and the characters are both likable and relatable. No persistent “I love you so I must leave you for your own good.” Nor do they perseverate on an imagined/exaggerated slight.
Really looking forward to the next (please let there be one!) book.

Omg. It’s a shame that someone let Gomer Pyle read a sexy romance. It’s ungodly painful! There’s times he seems to be unable to recall how to read. Almost like a man is reading to make it funny.

Unique take on the were/shifter/Norse descendants concept. Perspective much different from any previous shifter books I’ve read. In a lot of ways it was richer for the constancy and consistence of the protagonists unique worldview. It permeated the entire story.
Luckily it also had a HEA.
