Historia
Mike Campbell was the lead guitarist for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers from the band’s inception in 1976 to Petty’s tragic death in 2017. His iconic, melodic playing helped form the foundation of the band’s sound, as heard on definitive classics like “American Girl,” “Breakdown,” “Don’t Come Around Here No More,” “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” “Learning to Fly” and “Into the Great Wide Open.”

Best Rock Autobiography I’ve ever read
Revisado: 04-14-25
Mike is an amazing storyteller and has amazing recall on stories from the rise of the band. And he isn’t afraid to get really technical when detailing how he writes music which is awesome.

Historia
Until now there hasn't been a critical, authoritative, in-depth portrait of Metallica. Mick Wall's thoroughly researched, insightful work is enriched by his interviews with band members, record company execs, roadies, and fellow musicians. He tells the story of how a tennis-playing, music-loving Danish immigrant named Lars Ulrich created a band with singer James Hetfield and made his dreams a reality.

Great inside look especially at the early years
Revisado: 06-12-21
Mick displays his obvious history and incredible knowledge of the band and isn’t afraid to give his own opinions where he wants. This book is a good companion piece to the Ian Winwood/Paul Brannigan biographies though both cover pretty similar material it is interesting the events that the different biographers choose to go in depth on. The history of the latter half of the band’s career towards Death Magnetic feels a bit rushed just compared to how in depth Mick was able to get on the bands first 3 albums.
Definitely worth a purchase for the beginner fan learning about the band or the die hard fan looking for those one or two nuggets they’ve never heard before.
Narration was great for the story. I only had minor gripes with a couple of errors that may have been text or narration issues but don’t take away from the story as a whole (i.e. AT&T park is a baseball stadium not a football pitch though it has hosted American football games occasionally)

Historia
Most priests hear confessions. This one is making his. Rob Halford, front man of global iconic metal band Judas Priest, is a true "Metal God." Raised in Britain's hard-working, heavy industrial heartland, he and his music were forged in the Black Country. Confess, his full autobiography, is an unforgettable rock 'n' roll story—a journey from a Walsall council estate to musical fame via alcoholism, addiction, police cells, ill-fated sexual trysts, and bleak personal tragedy, through to rehab, coming out, redemption...and finding love.

This book has for a long time shown up in my recommendations but I on it’s face it didn’t appeal to me. I figured it would be another quasi-inspirational business book disguised as a biography. But I was so wrong. I finally grabbed the book after going through the tons and tons of positive reviews. I haven’t been hooked like this in a while. It stands with some of the best Audible books I’ve ever read. Writing, narration, and production are all top notch.

No longer the underdog, Blizzard North takes Diablo out of murky dungeons and across deserts, jungles, and snowy mountaintops.

Great Story, Decent Narration
Revisado: 03-15-21
I loved the first book and have waited years for the follow up to cover my all time favorite game. This book has a much better structure than the first(not reintroducing the same characters with their full name and title multiple times a chapter) and is more suited to an audiobook this time around. The Narration leaves a lot to be desired. Well read and engaging but a lot of mispronunciations especially when it comes to place and character names in the story or run of the mill fantasy terms like ‘magi’. This is a far cry from the first where the narrator even nailed a Deckard Cain impression when quoting the title.

A story as detailed as the universe it describes.
Revisado: 06-21-15
Absolutely brilliant book. covers every detail and every obscure Star Wars reference you could imagine. From a very Lucas friendly version of the Pixar story to innocent Death Star contractors discussed in Clerks. Chris Taylor has finally created the definitive Star Wars book. A must have for anyone even remotely interested. The narration captured a lot of the enthusiasm and awesome moments described in the book, but had some pronunciation problems with some of the more complex names in the Star Wars universe. Overall this is the definition of an insta-buy and its lengthy run time will blow by in a moment and leave you wanting more.
