Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

This may be a very good book but this narrator is terrible. I thought I’d get used to his radio announcer sounding voice and get into the story but after many hours I had to throw in the towel.

Love, Michael but he needs to hire a narrator lol
Revisado: 05-19-23
Great book, great guy. But his voice is so monotone. This audiobook would be a lot more fun if he hired someone like Jason Clarke to read it 😍
Also, the people complaining about the author’s option of what a “sexy” body is need to relax. He’s right. Toned bodies with perky chests and a nice rear end are what’s sexy. This is a fitness book. He isn’t here to be “inclusive” or whatever and lie about what’s attractive and healthy. He’s being honest.

Historia
Humor, like pornography, is famously difficult to define. We know it when we see it, but is there a way to figure out what we really find funnyand why? In this fascinating investigation into the science of humor and laughter, cognitive neuroscientist Scott Weems uncovers what’s happening in our heads when we giggle, guffaw, or double over with laughter. While we typically think of humor in terms of jokes or comic timing, in Ha! Weems proposes a provocative new model.

I really enjoyed this book! My only complaint was the seemingly endless chapter about computers. Good god was that boring. The book would have been so much better without it.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Historia
Based on the rare and until now overlooked journal of a Renaissance-era executioner, the noted historian Joel F. Harrington's The Faithful Executioner takes us deep inside the alien world and thinking of Meister Frantz Schmidt of Nuremberg, who, during 45 years as a professional executioner, personally put to death 394 individuals and tortured, flogged, or disfigured many hundreds more. But the picture that emerges of Schmidt from his personal papers is not that of a monster. Could a man who routinely practiced such cruelty also be insightful?

I actually REALLY enjoyed this book. I was interested and entertained the entire time. Not one bit of it was boring.
Some of it was pretty gruesome since he (the executioner) documented what exactly each person he executed or tortured did but it was actually a great story about the struggle to overcome your circumstances. It had a bittersweet ending though.
The narrator was amazing. I wish he could narrate every non fiction book I read 😂

Historia
Imagine you're circling a crowded parking lot. Just as you spot a space, another driver races ahead and takes it. In a world of road rage, domestic violence, and professionally angry TV and radio commentators, your likely response is anger, even fury. Now imagine that instead of another driver, a cow has lumbered into that parking space and settled down. Your anger dissolves into bemusement. What has changed? Not just the occupant of the space but your perspective on the situation.

The book is fine. I picked up some useful tips but good sweet lord could that narrator have been any more annoying? His regular voice was annoying and wow his other voices were even worse! Couldn’t he just read the script and not added his embellishments? Sheesh.

I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Historia
The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate. This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.
