This was such a fascinating read. The forbidden love between David and Isaac was gripping and I could not put this down. It’s been on my TBR for ages and I wish I would have read it sooner. I have some encounters with the Amish community through my job and I’ve always found their communities fascinating. This did not change that and makes me want more stories like this. I love that David and Isaac chose themselves and each other and could not wait to start book two!

I listened to this and found the narrator fantastic. John Solo, well, solo narrates the whole series and did fantastic on all the parts. It was easy to differentiate characters and he was easy to listen to. Would definitely listen to other books he narrates.

Another fascinating read with David and Isaac. I was so happy to continue reading their story and following with them as they assimilated to ‘English’ life and the struggles they encountered along the way. I also loved the introduction of Aaron and Jen and how they so easily welcomed David and Isaac into their lives and so gladly helped them. I love seeing relationships and individuals finding the support and acceptance they’ve always craved. It makes me so happy. Can’t wait to start book three!

I listened to this and found the narrator fantastic. John Solo, well, solo narrates the whole series and did fantastic on all the parts. It was easy to differentiate characters and he was easy to listen to. Would definitely listen to other books he narrates.

Another great story with David and Isaac. I loved seeing the healing and growth with both characters after their escape to the English world and subsequent return to Zebulon. These strong boys really found themselves and each other in this book and we love to see it. I loved the additional story we get with Aaron and seeing his return to his family and that dynamic. I can’t imagine the feelings in that situation and it broke my little momma heart to read it. This was a great conclusion to David and Isaac’s story and I’ll definitely revisit these boys someday.

P.S. Just found out there’s a short follow-up novella and you better believe I’ll be devouring that ASAP!

This was a little underwhelming for me. I picked this up for a quick listen in a little downtime at work and because I saw Teddy Hamilton so I came running. I think the audio probably lended to me enjoying it more than I would have if I'd eyeball read it. I get the story was part of an anthology and, therefore, short by nature but it just felt a little lacking, particularly on...the MMC's part. It's probably telling that I can't remember his name. Asher? Maybe? I think just one or two more chapters from MMCs perspective, could have helped make the whole thing a little more believable.

Overall this was fine read. Generally speaking, I like the story but I never felt wow'd at any point. I've read better step brother romances. I listened this this via audio and really wish it would have been a dual or duet narration. Tim Paige is a great narrator but he didn't provide much differentiation between Troy and Atlas. I frequently found myself confused as to who was speaking and who's perspective we were in. I also found the writing itself to be a little...juvenile, I guess? Maybe it stood out to me because I was listening to it but the amount of times Troy and Atlas called each other "step bro" was ridiculous. I get it, they are brothers by marriage. That is part of who they are. But it was so frequent and always step bro, not step brother. The constant shortening to bro just made the whole thing feel very dude-broey. Atlas and Troy's sexual/romantic relationship went also went from 0 to 100 real quick and felt a little inauthentic.

Meh. Basically the same as first book except this time the "step bros" have always gotten along. Again, an excessive use of the "step bro" term that made it feel very dude bro-ey. As with book one, the narration was hard to follow since it was a solo narrator and there wasn't a lot of differentiation between characters. Tim Paige was a fine narrator but it was just hard to follow. Not sure I'll visit Peach State again.

3.5/5

This was a pretty middle of the road read for me. It was light and fluffy and I liked Zach and Foster fine but wasn't absolutely in love with them. The story was light and low-angst. I read this via audio. I'd listened to Iggy before but never anything from Alexander. Iggy is pretty consistent as a narrator which I'm fine with. I didn't love Alexander to start with but as I listened to the whole series, he started to grow on me. He was a little over the top as Foster but seemed to get a little more realistic as the series went on. I did appreciate how he adjusted his reading to match what was on the page (i.e. if someone was out of breath, he read it in that way). Overall, it was compelling enough for me to want to listen to the rest of the series.

Another fine installment in the CU Hockey universe. As with the first book, this was pretty middle of the road for me. I didn't love and/or hate either of the MMCs, I found them both to be fairly average. Another Iggy/Alexander audio pairing. Iggy is pretty consistent from character to character. Alexander provides a little more depth between his characters and seems to change how he voices each one.

My favorite of the series so far! This was a great connection and I loved following Seth on his demi journey. It was so refreshing seeing their relationship develop online before figuring out who the other is. The MMCs were both finally ones I connected with. Cohen was just such a lovable idiot. Like, he's so clueless it's adorable. And sweet bb Seth. I just loved him and his journey. Another Iggy/Alexander installment and pretty consistent performance as with the prior two books.

We're really picking up in the back half of this series. The circumstances surrounding Asher and his brother West's life were so captivating in this book. Not something you see in a lot of sports romances to this degree but I really loved it. Through the course of this and the next book, I really loved seeing Asher and West find their strides as sudden parental figures for their younger siblings. I also loved Kole. So often the nerdy guy is also shy or inexperienced or both. It was so nice seeing a "nerdy" guy be comfortable in his own skin and knowing what he wants in a partner and relationship. I loved that spin. Again with Iggy and Alexander and their consistency over the series.
