My first Klune book!
Revisado: 04-08-25
Whoever doesn't give this book 5 stars is just wrong :/ There is literally nothing bad about it! The reader does a FANTASTIC job with all the character voices. Klune gave us a place to talk about life and death and all the feelings in-between. This book had me crying yall.. And I loved every second of it 💜

The nostalgia
Revisado: 04-08-25
To be fair, this book was always going to be a 5 star for me. I literally grew up reading the series. Barb and JC do an amazing job creating a world where vampires exist! The plot is engaging, the characters are believable, and the world is magical~
Do you like vampires and other fantasy creatures? just buy this book, it's worth the credit I promise

Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate. I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

You couldn't pay me to give this book less than 5 stars
Revisado: 04-08-25
I am so obsessed with this book.. I've recommended it to anyone who will listen, to some even twice 😆
The author literally tells you everything you need to know within the first 5 minutes and you will STILL be surprised along the way! So funny, so creative, so worth the credit.
Want to have a good day? Do yourself a favor, read this book..
Also, the reader is Australian (the book is written by an Australian author which I didn't know at the time of purchase ) so as an American I had to sometimes go back and listen closely at a word here or there. Nothing too hard to figure out though. Actually made it even more enjoyable for me!

Beautiful men in a beautiful world
Revisado: 04-08-25
I loved how the author handled the MC's anxiety. The relationship building was perfect. It felt very natural and didn't take away from the main plot of the story. With that said, it is a slow burn because of it. I don't think that is necessarily a bad since it feels more believable. I would have liked to know more about this world and had this unique power of "tasting" where a metal came from be used more than it was.

Woo-boy
Revisado: 04-08-25
I have never found myself interested in the lives of actors and actresses but this book made it interesting ! I think in appearance, it seems unassuming, but damn does it touch some very hard topics. I feel a lot.. and I try to stay away from novels that feel too real. If you are like that as well, I might tell you to be cautious. I wasn't ready for the amount of emotional anguish I would have to experience reading this 😳 It truly is a good book though. I think it was an amazing representation and portrayal of what women and the queer community face on a daily basis. Brava

I'm the outlier 🙋♀️
Revisado: 04-08-25
I hate to say it, but I just did not like this book.. and I really wanted to! I think it just felt so cliche it became corny? I blame the MC, she was insufferable. The reader did an amazing job, can't blame her. But the female MC was so..😒. Typical average girl, that is portrayed as strong, but if you pay attention, hardly ever accomplishes anything on her own. I know I gave story only 2 stars but that was only because of her. The actual concept and other characters were enjoyable! if you take her out the Novel its 5 stars!

Historia
In 1345, China lies under harsh Mongol rule. For the starving peasants of the Central Plains, greatness is something found only in stories. When the Zhu family’s eighth-born son, Zhu Chongba, is given a fate of greatness, everyone is mystified as to how it will come to pass. The fate of nothingness received by the family’s clever and capable second daughter, on the other hand, is only as expected.

Great queer historical novel!
Revisado: 04-08-25
So I initially picked this book up because SO MANY reviews were talking about the Sapphic love representation in it being top notch. I don't know if I completely agree with that as the MC almost comes off as possibly non binary or maybe even trans? There is a lot going on that plays into their gender identity and I'm sure there could probably be a whole debate about this but that is just my opinion. STILL, a great queer book nonetheless.
Overall great book. It's heavier than what I usually read so some parts were hard for me to digest at first. I didn't so much listen to this book as I felt my way through it. All the ups, downs, and twists. I probably won't read the second one until I've read some HEA endings to boost my mood 😅 But I WILL.
Lastly, I would die for Ouyang, just saying 😏

Coal will do anything to escape the spectacle, including getting tangled in a drunken, supremely hot make-out session with a beautiful man behind a seedy bar one night. But the heir to Christmas is soon commanded to do his duty: he will marry his best friend, Iris, the Easter Princess and his brother’s not-so-secret crush. A situation that has disaster written all over it. Things go from bad to worse when a rival arrives to challenge Coal for the princess’s hand.

Um..hello??
Revisado: 04-08-25
I never realized a Christmas and Halloween prince romance was what I was missing in my life but here we are! 0o The comedy, gold. The overall plot, gold. The sexual tension, would you believe it, gold. I don't think I'll be able to see Christmas and Halloween the same but I'm not upset over it!
Now I feel like a complete stalker and immediately need to read the rest of these Holiday mm romcoms. It was like if Hallmark made a queer movie and it was actually good.. Ngl this book had me wrapped around its binding.

Just the right amount
Revisado: 04-08-25
I found this story to be very enjoyable! it had just the right amount of humor, heat, and concept I like in a book. I love an author who can balance sexual tension and a great plot 😁 Too much of one or the other makes it boring! I will keep my eye out for any future books from this Author ^^
