Historia
Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children. But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet.

It was a day like any other when suddenly the world changed. The universe reached a threshold humanity didn’t even know existed, and it was time to finally be integrated into the vast multiverse. A place where power is the only thing anyone can truly rely on.

I didn't like it, but...
Revisado: 01-02-23
I kept waiting for the payoff. None. It's a dungeon crawl with no overall story arch. This book is extremely niche and I can see why a certain type of person would like it. If you like watching other people play video games or if you are the DND player who is good with rules and stats, then I say you'd probably love this. Or if you have a fantasy of being a murder hobo? This might be a book for you. When it comes to storytelling? Not so great. The story is weak and not driven by the main characters, the female characters are zero dimensional, if that's possible, and are basically really weak plot devices. The main character isn't interesting and just skates through the world with no intention of really being involved with, well, anything that doesn't include him raising his personal stats. Which is why you might like it if you like watching others play video games. The reader did well, he was able to perform a lot with weak dialogue. Also the poor guy had to spend hours rattling off stats and numbers. Again overall, some people might like this, I did not. I regret buying it.

Historia
Warlock Holmes may have demons in his head, but now, Dr. John Watson has a mummy in his bloodstream. Specifically that of the sorcerer Xantharaxes, who, when shredded and dissolved in an eight percent solution, results in some extremely odd but useful prophetic dreams. There's also the small matter of Watson falling for yet another damsel du jour and Warlock deciding that his companion needs some domestic bliss....
