Historia
Twenty-two years of marriage, and all Becca Larkin’s divorce settlement includes is a live-aboard sailboat and a huge helping of heartache. So when normally cautious Becca proposes a girls’ trip with her daughter, Liv, boating from Maine to a ready buyer for the boat in Miami, it seems like a recipe for a fun summer and a fresh start. After all, how hard can this sailing thing be?

DNF...just no from someone who enjoys author
Revisado: 08-11-24
My review may not be fair as this was a DNF for me.
I was turned off at start by the degree the main female character sexualized the male love interest at the start but kept on reading as I was a huge fan of Harms book, The Bright Side of Going Dark.
Too much sailing detail for me and embarking on trip w pretty much no experience seemed downright foolish but I kept going even though ...
Spoiler warning ...
Older woman younger man tropes are usually not for me. She is 42 and guesses her love interest is in his 30s.
BUT when I discover that love interest is a 26 yr old younger man (16 yrs younger) and is the main character's ex boyfriend of DAUGHTER!! ...
I just had to stop.

Historia
Minnie Cooper knows two things with certainty: that her New Year's birthday is unlucky, and that it's all because of Quinn Hamilton, a man she's never met. Their mothers gave birth to them at the same hospital just after midnight on New Year's Day, but Quinn was given the cash prize for being the first baby born in London in 1990 - and the name Minnie was meant to have, as well. With luck like that, it's no wonder each of her birthdays has been more of a disaster than the one before.

Kind of exhausting
Revisado: 07-22-22
I don't want this to be a spoiler but this got a little exhausting for me. The leads finally get their happy ending but it takes a long, long long time and all the obstacles along the way, especially in the final 1 hour or so, just did me in and turned my 4 star review into 3 stars. There was not enough satisfying couple time and way too much angst for my liking.

Historia
Siobhan is a quick-tempered life coach with way too much on her plate. Miranda is a tree surgeon used to being treated as just one of the guys on the job. Jane is a soft-spoken volunteer for the local charity shop with zero sense of self-worth. These three women are strangers who have only one thing in common: They’ve all been stood up on the same day, the very worst day to be stood up—Valentine’s Day. And, unbeknownst to them, they’ve all been stood up by the same man.

Skip the spoilers, skip the book jacket blurb and just enjoy a wonderful story. It has lots of twists and turns. I fell in love w 4 main characters. Very satisfying ending.

Loved it! Great story w some trigger warnings
Revisado: 10-27-21
I was slow to get this one started but so happy that I did as I really enjoyed. Absolutely loved the ending and how everything came together in positive way that did not feel forced. Lots of hope!!
There is a lot going on in this book ... so trigger warnings for anyone who cannot read about mental health, attempted suicide, cancer, death of pets and family members and online addiction. I fast forwarded through 1/2 of one chapter that hit too close to home for me.
But... I laughed, cried and suspended belief in a couple spots. Love that book celebrates self-care/prioritizing mental health, honesty, human relationships, family, giving everyone a little grace and the power of DOGS! 😊

Historia
From the hero whistleblower of the infamous Theranos scam, Thicker than Water is a look at never-before-revealed details behind closed doors at the company, revealing a cautionary tale of corporate bullying, gaslighting, ego, and wealth running amok in Silicon Valley. Tyler Shultz had been in the workforce for less than a year when he emailed Elizabeth Holmes, his employer and the CEO and founder of Theranos, with concerns that the company’s lab practices were faulty, ignored quality control, and were potentially dangerous to patients.

DNF w 1 hr 28 min...really silly
Revisado: 08-29-21
if you can believe that a former PTO president is able to create a business plan, launch a website and print up business cards in a matter of days...AND learn to be an exotic dancer able to give lap dances and strip ... but the ONLY job the formerly prim and proper, pearl necklace Ann Taylor wearing formerly mousy and now a blonde bombshell can get is as a stripper.....then maybe this book is for you. Oh...and do so w her 13 yr old daughter cheering her on and w the help of her kindly hot strip bar owning neighbor's help.
wow...I lost way too many brain cells on this one. i just could not anymore. It might have played better as rom com movie script and quick 90 min movie than a full length book.

DNF...absurd premise
Revisado: 05-23-21
So silly! You would think an editor would have fixed some of the huge issues with this book. Totally unbelievable for the main character to think a boyfriend she has had no contact with for 10 years would not have moved on. Also ridiculous that her best friend would not immediately set her straight about his current status or what ex beau and brother do for a living. When I return to my hometown, my bff and I spend hours gossiping and catching up.
I stopped listening after almost 2 hours. Just too many things that were impossible to believe.

Twists + unbelievable aspects changed my rating
Revisado: 05-11-21
This book has great reviews but there are some elements that many will not get past. Early on a present day love interest makes an important connection that is really hard to believe. I could get past that but just could not accept the great love of the other main chatacter's life. Just no. And then the ending twist ... huh? Is there no such thing as confidentiality?
I wish that I was in a book club so I could argue why this is really 2.5 stars at best without giving away spoilers.
If you are bothered by an author asking you to accept gigantic leaps in credibility, you will be bothered by this one.

Twelve years ago Matthew "the Rocket" Rising had it all. Married to his high school sweetheart and one of the winningest quarterbacks in the history of college football, he was the number one NFL draft pick. But on the night of the draft, he plummeted from the pinnacle of esteem. Falsely accused of a heinous crime with irrefutable evidence, it seemed in an instant all was lost—his reputation, his career, his freedom, and most devastatingly, the love of his life.

Just can't finish last chapter
Revisado: 01-17-21
The inconsistencies in this book will make your head swirl. I got to nearly the end and was just shaking my head no. The characters just do not work for me. I did not believe one situation. This could have been a much better book...if author changed about 80% of plot.
The narrator was fine.
