Historia
This is DC Smith's third investigation with the Diver and Diver Associates agency. They have been asked by a member of Norfolk's aristocracy to look into the tragic death of her younger brother, Freddie, the late Lord Thorpe of the title. The inquest verdict was of misadventure, but it isn't long before Smith begins to suspect there has been a serious miscarriage of justice.

and the story continues to develop
Revisado: 01-04-25
The author intertwines the two The past and the future. when he split off Kings lake from DC I wasn't sure that I would like that. but now they're both separate but the same and the pallet gets much bigger. Way to go.
I do love the feel of these books. they have their procedural moments and also just a great feel of the area and the people involved.

Bad story, badly written, sophomore conclusions.
Revisado: 03-06-23
Ok I have to admit that I wanted to like this book. however, I have nothing good to say about it. I knew the story was going to be weak but I hope for good science presentation and extrapolation on that science. unfortunately that is not what this book is. it's a silly love story/melodrama with some science that everybody's heard thrown in without a lot of explanation. The ending is about the worst thing I can even imagine.
I recommend staying away from this one.

I've been listening to these books for a long time. My memory is that it was a really good processed driven story. I think when these riders get a TV show they go off the rail.

Historia
In June 2021, a senseless event upends the lives of hundreds of men and women, all passengers on a flight from Paris to New York. Among them: Blake, a respectable family man, though he works as a contract killer; Slimboy, a Nigerian pop star tired of living a lie; Joanna, a formidable lawyer whose flaws have caught up with her; and Victor Miesel, a critically acclaimed yet commercially unsuccessful writer who suddenly becomes a cult hit. All of them believed they had double lives. None imagined just how true that was.

Weirdly depressing
Revisado: 03-01-22
I agree it's an interesting concept that makes him interesting points. However I believe that the situations it creates has little or no meaningful benefit. I wish I had not read this book. I found it weirdly depressing.

Historia
One of the most viewed paintings in American history, Custer's Last Fight, copied and distributed by Anheuser-Busch at a rate of more than two million copies a year, was destroyed in a fire at the 7th Cavalry Headquarters in Fort Bliss, Texas, in 1946. Or was it? When Charley Lee Stillwater dies of an apparent heart attack at the Wyoming Home for Soldiers & Sailors, Walt Longmire is called in to try and make sense of a piece of a painting and a Florsheim shoebox containing a million dollars, sending the good sheriff on the trail of a dangerous art heist.

I love these books
Revisado: 10-25-20
I think George Godel is the perfect narrator for these. I wish that the bear have been in more of the recent books. I think he's a spiritual connection it really fits these things over the top. I'm so happy to have Craig Johnson to fill in the space that was left by Tony hillerman.
Another highly recommended Walt Longmire book

Historia
No subject is bigger than reality itself, and nothing is more challenging to understand, since what counts as reality is undergoing continual revision and has been for centuries. The quest to pin down what's real and what's illusory is both philosophical and scientific, a metaphysical search for ultimate reality that goes back to the ancient Greeks. For the last 400 years, this search has been increasingly guided by scientists, who create theories and test them in order to define and redefine reality.

For Meridian Wallace - and many other smart, driven women of the 1940s - being ambitious meant being an outlier. Ever since she was a young girl, Meridian had been obsessed with birds, and she was determined to get her PhD, become an ornithologist, and make her mother's sacrifices to send her to college pay off. But she didn't expect to fall in love with her brilliant physics professor, Alden Whetstone. When he's recruited to Los Alamos, New Mexico, to take part in a mysterious wartime project, she reluctantly defers her own plans and joins him.

what a wonderful book
Revisado: 05-14-20
I got this on the deal of the day mainly because it mentioned the atomic bomb in Los Alamos. I have had some connections with Los Alamos so I found it intriguing. However, the book is beautifully written and a really excellent story of a woman's journey through her life. I found it very touching. I highly recommend this one.

Revisado: 02-09-20
Not much good I can say about this book. The writing is not very good on many levels. The science is inconsistent and even with that plot line is not consistent. I really found no redeeming quality in this book. The only bright spot was the narrator.

Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.
