Historia
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

amazing performance
Revisado: 07-24-24
steena Nielsen is a fantastic narrator. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it must be to perform the spicy scenes with as much enthusiasm as she does, but I'm glad she put in the effort. the story is fine, but the voice actor is what really knocks it out of the park.

Historia
What could be easier than preventing a servant girl from marrying a prince, especially for three clever witches? But Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlick face more than they bargained for when they journey to the distant city of Genua. For one thing, their power is limited to Mrs. Gogol's weak voodoo spells, a one-eyed cat and a secondhand magic wand that works only on pumpkins.

Historia
Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

hate the character
Revisado: 10-19-23
the reader does a great job with voices and tone. i hate Quinten so much that i almost couldn't finish the book. he whiny and selfish and awful with no redeeming qualities in this story. the show is so loosely based in this book that i didn't know what as going to happen, which is good, but i like the show plot better.

Historia
After touring the rural areas of Panga, Sibling Dex (a Tea Monk of some renown) and Mosscap (a robot sent on a quest to determine what humanity really needs) turn their attention to the villages and cities of the little moon they call home. They hope to find the answers they seek, while making new friends, learning new concepts, and experiencing the entropic nature of the universe. Becky Chambers's new series continues to ask: in a world where people have what they want, does having more even matter?

restful but not much in the way of plot
Revisado: 04-12-23
I like the world built in this story, it gives me hope for the future. there isn't much of a traditional plot and basically zero conflict. it's nice to listen to.

Historia
It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend. One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

this was suggested to me in an Atheopagan group as being about an environmental utopia, and it didn't disappoint. if you want to imagine how life could be if society got it's want together then this is the book for you.
also I've never read from the pov of a non-binary character and it was well done here.

Historia
A body always tells a story - but this child’s was a blank page. Rita reached for the lantern. She trained its light on the child’s face. "Who are you?" she murmured, but the face said as little as the rest of her. It was impossible to tell whether, in life, these blunt and unfinished features had borne the imprint of prettiness, timid watchfulness, or sly mischief. If there had once been curiosity or placidity or impatience here, life had not had time to etch it into permanence. Only a very short time ago, the body and soul of this little girl had still been securely attached.

great story, narration could be better

continuation of a great and compelling story, I love the details about the different earths. the narrator has a horrible American accent, not sure why they picked a Brit to read books with mostly American characters. I also don't care for the way he does the voices in general.
