Historia
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

Brilliantly Drawn Characters
Revisado: 04-27-24
Terrific story told by a terrific narrator. The characters are so well-drawn that the story unravels in the background. You are not conscious of looking for plot or following left motifs because you are so absorbed in the character's lives and psyches. When a character you have heard about in a character's mind only shows up, the account of the real-life meeting does not go as you think it will - a sign of a master storyteller.

She is a genius scholar and a meticulous researcher who is writing the world’s first encyclopaedia of faerie lore. But Emily Wilde is not good at people. She could never make small talk at a party—or even get invited to one. And she prefers the company of her books, her dog, Shadow, and the Fair Folk to other people. So when she arrives in the hardscrabble village of Hrafnsvik, Emily has no intention of befriending the gruff townsfolk.

Absolutely Charming, Inventive and Funny
Revisado: 04-18-24
A luscious wildly imaginative tale of fairies and mortals. The imagery is beyond the pale. The narrator is wonderful. Emily the protagonist is a character with as many facets as a diamond. Her surprisingly stern and soft personality is perfectly suited to the cold environs she finds herself in. Woven with scholarly attention to detail and wit.

Beautifully written and excellent narration
Revisado: 01-18-24
Even though this book is beautifully written, it is excruciatingly repetitive. The author doesn't have any faith that the reader can remember anything so he repeats over and over again the same images. His style to twist the image slightly to expose the similarity between each new event doesn't work well in English.

When Robin Ellacott opens an unexpected delivery, she is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but just as alarmed. He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible - and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike has essentially ruled out, he and Robin take matters into their own hands and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men.

Revisado: 10-20-23
The story was too long. However Robin and Cormoran's story continues to fascinate. Killer POV was grim. I guess that's why Don't Fear the Reaper was featured. Glenister excellent as always.
