Good story with a few surprises in the mystery. Fun, relaxing to listen to. Nice pace, good narration.

My husband and I first read Hotel Pastis over 20 years ago and it was a book we loved to read again. Having the audiobook to enjoy is a delight as well and the story is as fun to listen to as it is to read.

As much time as I have spent on the beach I have never heard crickets. I listened to this to help me sleep. I have tinnitus, the crickets were annoying.

It’s all too easy to consider any voice but David Suchet as Poirot. The story had a lot of characters to keep track of but after a third of the book it was easier to follow who was who. The author has captured Poirot’s eccentricity without turning him into an annoying character. The narration made Poirot his own, rather than attempting to be David Suchet. I am looking forward to reading more of this author.

Over all, this book was enjoyable. Sometimes predictable. The narration in the first 7 books was better. The narrator improved from the previous book in the series. Looking forward to the next one!

A tale of small town life inMissouri from post WWII to the present, through the Smith s and their family. While the title states it is book 2, it can be read on its own or the prequel to Can’t Wait to Get to Heaven.

The narration was extremely well acted and brings the characters to life.

I have been enjoying reading/listening Ellery Adams work. Her characters are often those that are needed to make changes in their lives. This series characters all have needed to move ahead from life changing mistakes they have made in their lives. Each of the characters in this series has needed to start over, Forgive themselves. Learn to trust. Take leaps of faith. Be vulnerable to others and let them in.

Nice Cozy mystery that continues the story of Penelope McClure, a local woman who has returned home from NYC after her society husband’s suicide. In this book we get to know more of the other business owners in Quindicott RI as they participate in solving another book store related murder. Penelope is gaining confidence in her investigation skills from the ghost of 1940’s PI Jack Shepherd whose spirit has been trapped in the bookstore since he died there in 1949.

Most cozy mysteries bend reality at some point, how many murders can the main character keep on stumbling into? However it isn’t hard to suspend that bend and enjoy the story. The mystery is well written, solutions are not obvious. The narration as it switches between Jack and Penelope’s voices with the two voice actors works well. I am looking forward to listening to the rest of the series.

The story lines for these cozies aren’t too bad, especially if you happen to love poodles. However, the narrator had a high pitched voice for the lead character and performed the text way to fast. Just could not relax, do the other stuff I normally do when listening to this genre. Glad I did not have to pay for it.

I appreciated the narrator’s love of Wodehouse. But he clearly is not a voice actor or professional reader.

The narrator’s voice was not clear. He stumbled like any of us have done when reading aloud. I could have gotten through that.

The background music of electronic piano on a loop made the narration difficult to follow. The background music was.and endless loop, way too loud.

Don’t waste a credit on this.
