Built for Freedom is a no-holds-barred look at the root of all this suffering and the way I’ve found to leave it behind without having to turn your life into an unpaid career of therapy, recovery, and healing. The stories inside are an invitation to quit the fight and finally enjoy your birthright of freedom. Because you are already built for it.

Entertaining, thought provoking and designed to challenge your assumptions.

The reading performance on this book is best of the best. It's entertaining, with shocking stories quirky similes and little jokes sprinkled throughout that had me chuckling to myself.
It's light and yet he is able to tackle some of the hardest subjects known to human experience. I'm blown away that this is read by the author... best author reading I have ever heard. I have 160 titles in my audible Library plus many other listens on other platforms.
I forgot how heavy some of the material is until I was listening with my 14yr old daughter present.
Those heavily invested in traditional thought will find this book difficult to enjoy. He challenges the teachings of Plato, Assumptions of Science, The deity of Budda... and all 'Gods' just to name a few.
I believe in Christ, and the need for a redeemer. If you approach this book with an open mind you will find the ”virtue that is the mean between the vice of excess and deficiency" a gratitude for great teachers and an embracing of personal responsibility.
I will definitely be following his future work, may even do one of his courses. I haven't suffered anything near the examples he gives but I want to learn how to live a life without fear.
I want to change my impulse responses to stimuli to work for me and those I love. He suggests we all have that power within us, and it is imbedded in self awareness. Something I have been exploring for some time and enjoying many benefits.
as Viktor Frankl said, ”between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom"
What Bob discusses are practices to widen the space between stimulus and response so we can *choose* our response.
Unfortunately he only mentions the practices briefly, and how they impacted his clients. I would have loved some direct instruction to practice myself. This isn't an instruction manual but a collection of stories and principles to invite your mind out of the box.
As Christ says, "Know the truth, and the truth will make you free." that truth is: you are not a victim, you have a choice, reclaim your free will by *experiencing* the space between stimulus and response.
thanks for a great read!

Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

Mahan Khalsa and Randy Illig offer a better way. Salespeople, they argue, do best when they focus 100 percent on helping clients succeed. When customers are successful, both buyer and seller win. When they aren't, both lose. It's no longer sufficient to get clients to buy - a salesperson must also help the client reduce costs, increase revenues, and improve productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Historia
James Allen's From Poverty to Power (1901) and As a Man Thinketh (1902) stand as seminal texts in the self-help genre that have served as sources of inspiration since their publication at the beginning of the 20th century. Loosely based in its principles around the Biblical proverb "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he," As a Man Thinketh asserts the powerful idea that belief is central to bringing about positive events in one's life.

This completely changed the way i look at sales calls, asking for favors and saying 'no'. This book is invaluable to anyone who struggles with procrastination because of fear of rejection.

Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Has A Game of Thrones turned you off from other books in this genre?
I'll certainly avoid R.R. Martin
Any additional comments?
I purchased this book based on the amazing reviews. I felt it was important to warn other unsuspecting readers of the experience I had. I really wanted something to compare to Lord of The Rings but with its own unique flavor. The problem I had with Martin is that he placed perverted sexual scenes evenly throughout the book. It felt like he put them in just to make sure people would read it out of curiosity… not interest or enjoyment of the novel; but wondering what crazy upside down sexual scene would be next.
You have to be “mature” to enjoy this type of reading… if reading about a 14year old getting raped multiple times until she likes it, a 13year old going to a brothel, and incest… you’re officially mature enough for this book. (I don’t know if there’s more, as I could not finish this book) I wish I had been warned.
I’m writing this for anyone who may be considering this series so they can make their purchase with eyes wide open.
If you want an epic fantasy with new flavor and a solid story that does not require bizarre sexual scenes to hold your attention, I would highly recommend Brandon Sanderson’s “The Way of Kings”

Historia
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Fantastic Book!
Revisado: 03-15-12
Would you listen to Divergent again? Why?
Not for a while - when you know how everything plays out, it takes a lot of the suspense away.
What did you like best about this story?
The Government and Society - Formed with good intentions but corrupt. Despite corrupt leaders, the individuals have value and an innate sense of right vs. wrong. Choosing the right, goes against society, and requires true bravery (the real dauntless.) You have plenty of time to connect with the characters' experiences, but the book is not all about a teenage girl and her emotional whining - bottom line, It keeps the BIG picture in view.
Which character – as performed by Emma Galvin – was your favorite?
Four
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No

Amazing writing, plot, and development. Can't wait to get a hold of the Sequel!!!
