Historia
Many political and cultural events sent shock waves through the Irish world in the 19th and early 20th centuries as Ireland gradually shook off the shackles of British rule. Alongside a long and painful political process arose one of the greatest flourishings of literature in modern times - a spirited discourse among those who sought to shape their nation's future, finding the significance of their bloody present intimately entwined with their legendary past.

Great content, bad pronunciation
Revisado: 08-13-18
The content relayed is accurate and historically accurate. However, in what I’m assuming is an attempt to speak clearly, the speaker mispronounced names of most ancient gods and famous tales For example, “Lug” is was pronounced “Luke”, when it should have been pronounced like the name “Lou”.

Potential Damaging
Revisado: 01-01-09
If you find yourself seriously drawn into first person narratives and aren't in a great mood to begin with - this is not the book for you.
The first 3/4 of the book are nothing but Bella's serious and debilitating depression. When reading a book, I'm always drawn into the characters. Even more with 1st person narratives. I found myself crying at the stupidest things right after listening to this book, things that would never bother me would make me sob.
Maybe if I had read the book, and therefore skimmed large sections of the depression parts (which are repeated over and over again), it wouldn't have been as bad. But it's so hard to skim an audio book.
In light of the reviews I've read for the last two books, I've decided not to buy them.

Historia
Little is known about the Ancient Greek oral poet Homer, the supposed 8th century BC author of the world-read Iliad and his later masterpiece, The Odyssey. These classic epics provided the basis for Greek education and culture throughout the classical age and formed the backbone of humane education through the birth of the Roman Empire and the spread of Christianity.

Horrible Reader
Revisado: 12-11-06
While the story may be good, the reader needs some work. When a new character starts to speak, he'll speak three words in the new voice, and then drop it for his normal voice. If I didn't already have a good idea of how the story goes, I don't believe I would be able to follow along at all. Descriptive paragraphs run into people's speeches - totally confusing. If I hadn't already heard books from other readers, and know what good reading is, this would have turned me off completely from audio books.
