Historia
Jim Thorpe rose to world fame as a mythic talent who excelled at every sport. Most famously, he won gold medals in the decathlon and pentathlon at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. A member of the Sac and Fox Nation, he was an All-American football player at the Carlisle Indian School, the star of the first class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and played major league baseball for John McGraw’s New York Giants. Even in a golden age of sports celebrities, he was one of a kind.

The story was interesting, but this guy needed to have his editor cut about half of the story and exposition and it would have made it 100 times better

Beautiful book and excellent narration!
Revisado: 01-23-25
This is not the kind of book I would typically pick up. Honestly, I thought it would be cheesy, like a Hallmark movie—ironically, it was made into one. But David Baldacci is such a masterful author that he weaves profound universal themes—heartache, grief, a man grappling with his own mortality, the devastating loss of his wife, and ultimately, the journey of finding love again—into a story that resonates deeply.
Despite my initial reluctance, I’m glad I gave this book a chance. It surprised me in the best way and, more importantly, helped me grow as a person. That’s always the hallmark of a great read—it leaves you changed in some way. For me, the story struck a personal chord. I’ve recently gone through my own grieving process: the loss of my childhood sweetheart through divorce. Though she now lives half a world away, it feels, in a way, as though she has died. Like the protagonist in Baldacci’s story, I’ve found myself on the painful yet hopeful path of healing and rediscovering love.
The parallels between Baldacci’s narrative and my own life brought a sense of catharsis. His words gave voice to emotions I hadn’t fully processed, and his story reminded me that there is light and hope, even in the darkest moments. It helped soothe scars I still carry in my heart.
This is a beautifully written book, and I’d recommend everyone give it a chance. At least once. You never know how a story might meet you exactly where you are and help you take the next step forward.

This is one of the best books I’ve ever read!
Revisado: 12-07-24
Wish You Well by David Baldacci is, without a doubt, one of the best books I’ve ever read. For me, it stands shoulder to shoulder with timeless classics like To Kill a Mockingbird, The Shawshank Redemption, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Bell Jar, Gone with the Wind, and The Outsiders. This novel captivated me from the very first page and held my attention until the final word. It’s truly a phenomenal read.
What sets Wish You Well apart is how heartfelt and profoundly moving the story is. Baldacci, known primarily for his gripping thrillers, steps outside of his usual genre to deliver something deeply emotional and completely different. This shift reminds me of how Stephen King occasionally ventures beyond horror to create masterpieces like The Shawshank Redemption. Similarly, Baldacci proves he is a masterful storyteller across genres.
The story is gripping, emotional, and unforgettable. Baldacci’s ability to weave such an epic tale in this style feels like a breath of fresh air. Wish You Well showcases his versatility as an author and cements his place as one of the greats in modern literature.
If you’re a fan of heartfelt, character-driven stories that linger with you long after you finish, I highly recommend Wish You Well. It’s an exceptional work that deserves a spot on anyone’s must-read list.

It's 1949. When war veteran Aloysius Archer is released from Carderock Prison, he is sent to Poca City on parole with a short list of dos and a much longer list of don'ts: do report regularly to his parole officer, don't go to bars, certainly don't drink alcohol, do get a job - and don't ever associate with loose women. The small town quickly proves more complicated and dangerous than Archer's years serving in the war or his time in jail.

It’s an amazing book. Very much a departure from David Baldacci‘s other books. It’s a riveting tale and I binge listened to this cause I couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t have even guessed how this mystery was spun out and turned out. And I’m usually pretty good at guessing. But this one had me hook line and sinker until the end. It’s a great book and I’m looking forward to reading more with this character.

Revisado: 11-25-24
It’s been a while since I’ve listened to David Baldacci. And his books are as addictive as ever. This one is much better than the first one and I love the way that everything ties together. The author is a master at his craft and this was a potboiler and a page turner that I couldn’t put down. This is one of the best action/mysteries I’ve read in a while.

Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.

In this captivating blend of careful research and rich narrative, Derek W. Lots of stuff I didn’t know.
Revisado: 11-18-24
In my reading of this book on the American Revolution, I found the author’s skillful integration of historical facts with engaging narrative particularly commendable. The meticulous research presented numerous insights previously unknown to me, enhancing my understanding of the era. Notably, I was surprised to learn the extent of Revolutionary War battles that occurred prior to 1776. Overall, this work offers a compelling and informative exploration of the American Revolution.

Way more interesting than I anticipated
Revisado: 09-27-24
I’ve been a Beatles fan for 30 years now and I thought I knew pretty much everything about their time together and everything. But, this is very interesting because it was an insight and a look into a whole different side of the Beatles that I have never even thought about or could’ve possibly known. This is the intimate look Inside of the Beatles inner circle and what they saw, and so you get a much more complete picture of the Beatles as a group and the Beatles as people. I highly recommend this book for any Beatles fan! 10 out of 10 will highly recommend!

This High Republic book, meh.
Revisado: 05-12-24
I love Marc Thompson’s narrating, but the story is nothing to scream about. It aludes to the Path of the Open Hand, but without other books for context, there is little understanding about what they truly represent as a threat. The story was painfully slow and picked up only in the last 20% of the story.
It was hard to discern that the story took place 200 years before the previous one. I did enjoy the characters and especially, Axel Greylark’s moral complexity. He seemed to be the most interesting character. Overall, this High Republic book was, meh for me. Not horrible, but definitely not anything to be excited about either. 3.5/10

Revisado: 04-11-24
I enjoy the villain in the story arc. Marchion Roe is an amazing antagonist and enemy. I’d put him up there with Vader, Darth Bane, Revan, and Malgus. The storyline resonates. I only wish that Disney paid as much attention to the sequels 7-9 as they do here. Those movies sucked. This series rocks!
