Very well-written and thoroughly terrifying!
Revisado: 08-10-21
Such a terrifying and intriguing rendition of the Jeffrey Dahmer story! It never ceases to amaze me at how twisted and tormented serial killers' minds are. This story is so hard to believe because of how unexpected and gruesome Dahmer's tactics and cannibalism was. As is typical for James Richmond true crime novels, the author perfectly recounts Dahmer's life from early childhood through to his killing rampage. I enjoy the author's take on the story and find that he can recount the tory while remaining factual yet adding unique touches. The narrator also adds an additional intriguing touch with his accent and role playing as the story introduced new characters. Overall, I recommend this book and all those by this author! You are sure to enjoy it, even if you've heard the story before. Nothing like a true crime audiobook to listen to during walks, while cleaning, driving, or simply lounging.

Revisado: 07-07-21
What an amazing biography! Kamala Harris has done so many different types of work throughout her career and this audiobook really captures those accomplishments. The author offers a thorough and comprehensive outline of Harris’ life, including influences in her life. I think this part of a biography is so important because you see those influences develop over their life and careers. I also appreciated how the author included the controversies she’s faced from a tactful and informative perspective. Furthermore, I enjoyed how the author sectioned each segment into digestible chapters, while still covering a great deal of information. Lastly, I appreciated that the author included the first 100 days in office and the trajectory moving forward. Overall, this audiobook provides a comprehensive view of Kamala Harris as it pertains to her early life into her vice presidency. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I’m sure others will too!

Horrifying but a must-read!
Revisado: 06-19-21
This is such a horrifying, yet intriguing rendition of the John Wayne Gacy story. James Richmond does a wonderful job, yet again, at capturing the true essence of both the killer’s and his victims’ minds. The author makes it easy for you to imagine what each character is feeling, making the story come to life. He also describes the room, the victim, and the murder acts with such detail that you can picture it in your mind. The narrator also adds a sense of fear through his calm yet commanding voice.
I appreciated that the author writes the story out of order. He starts with the end in mind and works backwards in a sense. This layout works especially well for this story because you have to navigate through unexpected twists and turns. This is just further proof that the author perfectly matches his writing style to the specific story.
In regards to the story itself, it is so flabbergasting that it would be hard to believe if it wasn’t true. John Wayne Gacy is yet another killer that flew under police radar despite having significant run ins with law enforcement. These stories always make me wonder how many lives would have been saved if someone would have paid attention. It’s unfortunate but the author does the story justice.
This is the perfect audiobook for anyone interested in true crime or the John Wayne Gacy. I would definitely recommend it!

Here are three of his finest nonfiction works collected in a single volume: What's Wrong with the World, Orthodoxy, and Heretics. Within the audio of this collection, you’ll discover how Chesterton sets forth one of the most telling critiques of contemporary religious notions ever, and how he accepted his opponents’ challenge to set forth his own reasons for accepting the Christian faith.

A true classic! Challenging but worth the read!
Revisado: 06-10-21
This book is a true classic! The concepts are very challenging for the average person yet interesting and thought-provoking. It is filled with philosophical and theological writings and I can see myself listening to it many times over, each time gaining additional insights. It’s a must-read classic and a must-read if you’re interested in G. K. Chesterton's writings. It is very well-written and really captures the essence of Chesterton’s writings.
Contrary to other reviews, I found the narrator’s voice to be pleasant and unique. I think it fits the style and adds character to Chesterton’s writings. It might not be the most exciting narration, but it matches the tone and is appropriate for the tone of the writings.
Overall, I recommend this audiobook for all who are interested in philosophical writings or learning more about Chesterton.

Offering poignant and eye-opening reflections on Victorian society, the works of Emily and Charlotte Bronte hold a special place in literary history and in the hearts of everyone who reads them. Deeply controversial in their time for their critical look at core parts of society - including religion, class, and the role of women - their work has transcended the 19th century to provide an often-forgotten glimpse into the struggles of the past.

Lovely story with enjoyable narration
Revisado: 05-17-21
I love that this audiobook combines two books in one. It gives you over 30 hours of listening, all of which is engaging and fascinating. Despite never having read either of these stories, I could not have picked a better book to listen to as an audiobook. The imagery in this collection is one of the best aspects of the collections. Considering that these stories are about Victorian society, I thought the authors really captured that time while keeping the reader engaged throughout the story. It was easy to follow each character’s storyline and set the stage as the narrator moved through the story. This audiobook is great for readers looking to learn about these classical pieces of literature but needing assistance moving through them. Also, the author did an excellent job capturing different perspectives of women and their various roles during the time.
The narrator’s voice is very soft and enjoyable and pairs well with the storyline. The author has a bit of an English/British accent, which captures the style and language of the time. That said, it was a bit odd that a book about a woman was narrated by a man. Regardless, the narrator and his narration were wonderful! Lastly, the narrator beautifully captured the emotions, whether the character was speaking or merely in their heads. I could easily follow who was speaking, what they were thinking, and how they perceived their interactions with other characters. Overall, well worth the listen, especially for students listening for an English class!

Comprehensive biographies yet easy to follow!
Revisado: 05-11-21
This audiobook offers very comprehensive biographies of some of America’s greatest leaders. The book contains biographies for Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, George Washington, Ulysses S. Grant, and Napoleon Bonaparte, each of which offers valuable information about their upbringing and political careers. Considering that these leaders date back to early United States history, the author included a lot of information about each leaders’ childhood, influences, and life before becoming leaders. This insight helps set the foundation for their future leadership tendencies and causes they were interested in pursuing. For instance, Abraham Lincoln’s real-life experiences with slavery fueled his passion for ending slavery and was a cause he never stopped fighting to abolish. I also enjoyed how the author depicted each leaders’ road into politics and provided more detail than many authors typically do on their life before politics. Moreover, I appreciated that the author used the same structure for each leader and separated the chapters to reflect this structure.
In regards to the narrator’s contributions, the narrator has a unique, enthusiastic voice. Considering the nature of the material, the narrator offers an interesting tone and makes the biographies both interesting and easy to follow. The author speaks clearly and transitions smoothly from one leader to the next.
Although the author covers quite a bit of information and comprehensive analysis of each leader, the biographies are separated into smaller parts, making the information digestible and easy to understand. Considering this layout, I believe the audiobook is great for people interested in history or students conducting research on any one of these leaders. I also believe it would be an excellent option for high school students because it is easy to follow and offers the added benefit of listening rather than reading the material. It’s a perfect option for anyone conducting research!

Must-read for true crime lovers!
Revisado: 05-07-21
This audiobook is SO thrilling and intriguing. From the onset, the author does an amazing job of grabbing your attention and getting you invested in the story. The book starts with the end in mind, making you wonder what happened and enticing you to listen on. Also, the author excellently describes Richard Ramirez’s upbringing and family history, which helps you understand the underpinnings of his future life of crime. As is customary with infamous serial killer stories, the killer’s upbringing can provide insight into why they turned out the way they did. Additionally, the author offers wonderful insight into Richard Ramirez’s mind, as well as the minds of the witnesses and the victims’ loved ones.
The author also does an excellent job describing the geographical location of these crimes, so much so that it is chilling if you are from California or extremely relatable/close to home if you are not. The author writes the story in such a way that you feel it is possible that it could happen to you, wherever you are.
The narrator offers a smooth, slightly British accent and does an excellent job of helping you visualize who is talking. That said, his voice is pretty terrifying when narrating Richard Ramirez during his murderous actions.
This story is truly horrifying, and the author does it justice in his writings. Since the book is based on an infamous serial killer, I would recommend everyone listen to this book, even if you have heard the story before. The author offers unique insights, and the narrator gives it an exciting feel. The audiobook is less than four hours, making it perfect for a shorter road trip or great for nightly listening. Whether you listen to it all at once or in parts, this audiobook is a must-read for true crime lovers!

Riveting Storyline with Intriguing Narration
Revisado: 05-04-21
This audiobook is such an interesting and descriptive book! I have read the book myself, but the audiobook narration really brings it to life. I enjoyed the detailed storyline, outlining Ted Bundy’s childhood and adulthood prior to the serial killings, as well as the murders and trials. You get the entire story and history from a fairly short audiobook, just shy of 4 hours. I would even recommend this audiobook for listeners who have already read the story or watched documentaries about the Ted Bundy story. Although the story itself is the same, the narrator navigates the life of Ted Bundy and his victims from a unique yet factual perspective. The author allocates enough time to the victims’ stories and does not rush through the story focusing solely on their deaths. I think this is important because oftentimes, authors focus more on the killer and the act of killing but negate to tell the victims’ story. This book is a nice balance of both. Moreover, the author also captures perspectives from the victims, detectives, witnesses, and other people involved in the Ted Bundy story, making it a riveting, comprehensive storyline covering the motives, methods, locations, and timelines.
This audiobook is easy to follow and great for days where you need an escape from reality or for the days when you need a bit of entertainment while doing housework. Lastly, I enjoyed the slightly British accent the narrator brought to the story. It added to the anticipation and intrigue during the lead-up to the murders.
