Historia
DCI Harry Grimm is on the cusp of a stunning decision. Considering making his move to the scenic Yorkshire Dales permanent, he ends up reviewing details of a terrible car accident that killed a retired colonel's beloved wife. But when the panicked widower calls the police claiming the deceased woman's spirit is haunting him, the dedicated detective wades in to piece together a less implausible explanation.

Hard to get through
Revisado: 10-15-24
When I listen to the Grimm novels, I always end up staying up late to hear/read the entire book. This one was so difficult to get through. The narrator is always great - it is just the story.

Great narrator, worst Scarpetta book so far
Revisado: 06-03-24
what more can I say? I own almost every Scarpetta hard copy and Audible version. As always, January LaVoy was fantastic as Kay Scarpetta. However, I have to agree with many reviews stating that it is almost more of a cookbook than anything else. the story did not come together at all and I was very surprised at the "seven days later," point. As disappointing as it might be, I think it os time to lay our beloved Dr. Scarpetta series to rest....

It all started harmlessly enough. An egged window, a deflated car tire, and a few garden gnomes knocked over. But then, the silent calls began–late nights and early mornings to landlines and mobiles, and numbers that no one should have access to.

one of the best...
Revisado: 08-03-23
This book got me through a 12 hour drive from the south side of Wisconsin to Chattanooga, Tennessee. It has been an extremely sad and stressful couple of days but I am so grateful for JD Kirk and his gang of misfits for getting me through it. I laughed out loud quite a few times when it came to Hoon and his mouth. One of the best in the DCI Jack Logan series so far.

Awful....
Revisado: 01-21-21
I had to go backt twice to make sure I wasn't listening to a book on psychiatry or self help. When the narrator speaks as anyone but the main character, his voice becomes childlike. They speak to each other as if talking to children, as well. Just not good.

Another great DCI Logan story!
Revisado: 10-09-20
I am so glad I stumbled on this author! He has been a favorite since I fpicked up the first book in this series about 6 weeks ago. Five books later and he does not disappoint! Absolutely terrific narrator - one of the best. The book was very good. It seemed so predictable in the first 3/4, but through me for a loop! I would love to see this character and his story on television. David Tennant would be perfect as Jack Logan.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Another disappointing end to a SK book...
Revisado: 10-22-19
This book was so, so good in the first 3/4 of it. Then, like most of his books, it kind of sputtered out. I am a lifelong fan of SK's. However, his constant poke at the conservative party gets old very fast. When I read a book, I truly want to escape. Not listen to bashing of political parties. I'm not sure I'll pick up his next book.

great story, terrific narrator!
Revisado: 09-10-19
I bought this book during a Daily Deal and am so grateful I found it! I am not sure if I've ever heard this narrator before, but I will definitely seek his performances out! the story reminded me a bit of A Boy's Life, which I loved equally. I am a 49 year old female but still identified with so many characters....it is a MUST read!

Recently engaged and deeply ensconced in her third year of surgical residency in Chicago, Emily Hartford gets a shock when she is called home to Freeport, Michigan, the small town she fled a decade ago after the death of her mother. Her estranged father, the local medical examiner, has had a massive heart attack. At the hospital, she finds her father in near total denial of the seriousness of his condition. He insists that the best thing Emily can do to help him is to take on the autopsy of a senator's teen daughter whose sudden, unexplained death has just rocked the sleepy town.

good book but.....
Revisado: 08-05-19
This was a pretty good book. Good performance. But it abruptly ends. It is possible there will be a second book, but even so, the way it ended, almost in the middle of a sentence, was very bizarre.

Historia
Harry Hole is not in a good place. Rakel - the only woman he's ever loved - has ended it with him, permanently. He's been given a chance for a new start with the Oslo Police, but it's in the cold case office. What he really wants is to be investigating cases he suspects have ties to Svein Finne, the serial rapist and murderer who Harry helped put behind bars. And now, Finne is free after a decade-plus in prison. When Harry wakes up the morning after a drunken night with blood that's clearly not his own on his hands, it's only the very beginning of what will be a waking nightmare.
