TAKE MY HAND IS CAPTIVATING
Revisado: 10-31-23
Nurse Civil Townsend’s 23 year old fictional character will ensnare you in this literary masterpiece. It’s for anyone who cares about the injustices of those who are less privileged than yourself. It’s for those who care about women’s reproductive rights, the rights of underage female children, mentally challenged individuals, fair and equitable medical treatment. The characters in this book jump off the pages into your heart. Take My Hand does not disappoint.

Historia
“Don’t tell nobody our business,” Michael Tubbs’ mother often told him growing up. For Michael, that meant a lot of things: Don’t tell anyone about the day-to-day struggle of being Black and broke in Stockton, CA. Don’t tell anyone the pain of having a father incarcerated for 25 years to life. Don’t tell anyone about living two lives: the brainy bookworm and the kid with the newest Jordans.

Such A Fun Age
Revisado: 01-30-23
Such A Fun Age is such a good read. It covers a few heavy subjects in an easily digestible manner. The reader is left with a since of enlightenment rather than anger over racial stereotyping by the lead character Alix. It’’s a really good read loaded with colorful descriptives.

Historia
To his customers and neighbors on 125th street, Ray Carney is an upstanding salesman of reasonably priced furniture, making a decent life for himself and his family. He and his wife Elizabeth are expecting their second child, and if her parents on Striver's Row don't approve of him or their cramped apartment across from the subway tracks, it's still home. Few people know he descends from a line of uptown hoods and crooks, and that his façade of normalcy has more than a few cracks in it. Cracks that are getting bigger all the time.

Harlem Shuffle
Revisado: 11-29-22
Whitehead does not disappoint. Anyone who knows anything at all about New York, and has heard stories about Harlem will be enthralled. The characters are rich, and colorful and leap from the pages.
