Just buy it. The science is nice but the story is better. Trying not to spoil the story and anything I say is going to do it. But this will have you laughing, mad, crying.. Another well done story

A book that I wish was longer

Usually I think books could do with more aggressive editing. This book however tackles some big topics and could do with more depth in order to help the reader form a more solid opinion about the conclusion. Perhaps the fact that it’s not where I want it is intentional. But it is an interesting topic

Dense subject made consumable

I've read and watched pretty much everything I could get my hands on re: WWII. This book is able to parse a big dense topic and break it up into consumable pieces without making them disconnected. Well done

This is a book about someone who happens to cook

Unlike most autobiographies or books written by the chef author, this book is more an autobiography and less of a kitchen centric tale like you would find with other books of the genre. If most books are 70/30 kitchen/cooking discussion vs life, this is the opposite.

Well done in nearly every aspect

From production to story this is a good book. I think there was only one point where I thought plot motives didnt really make sense but overall this is 10 out of 10.

If you like tales of war this is pretty good. If you want to learn a thing or two about SOG then it's also pretty good. Narration is well done.

Interesting details from history

I was a young kid when all of this happened so hearing the details, the heroism, the politics was all interesting to me. to compare it to those moment in my youth. well done

Some more in depth on HBOs The Pacific

There are a lot of interesting, more personal stories - specifically about the pacific theatre that could be lesser known. There's also a fair amount of narrative that was used in making The Pacific by HBO. Definitely worth it if you enjoyed that series.

Great "First Hand Account" Stories

so much of WWII is fairly static because the same overarching themes are discussed. This is interesting because it presents some new narratives even if youre an advanced "historian" of the european or pacific theatre.
