Historia
It is an ordinary Thursday, and things should finally be returning to normal. Except trouble is never far away where the Thursday Murder Club are concerned. A decade-old cold case—their favorite kind--leads them to a local news legend and a murder with no body and no answers. Then a new foe pays Elizabeth a visit. Her mission? Kill or be killed. Suddenly the cold case has become red hot.

Why Change Narrators?
Revisado: 10-30-22
Lesley Manville was the most amazing narrator and I was VERY disappointed with the new narrator. She could not create the character with her voice and manner in the same way that Lesley Manville did, so that took away some of my enjoyment in the book. Please get her back for book four!

Historia
On the evening of November 24, 1971, D. B. Cooper hijacked Flight 305—Portland to Seattle—with a fake bomb, collected a ransom of $200,000, and then parachuted from the rear of the plane, disappearing into the night...and into history. Fifty years later, Agent Pendergast takes on a bizarre and gruesome case: in the ghost-haunted city of Savannah, Georgia, bodies are found with no blood left in their veins—sowing panic and reviving whispered tales of the infamous Savannah Vampire.

Terrible Narrator!
Revisado: 02-24-22
I have listened to all the Pendergast novels and truly enjoyed them, due both to the beautiful narration and expert writing and story construction. This one, however, failed in the narration. The narrator's characterization and accents were horrendous. He made Constance sound like a harpy and his Southern accent was abominable. I could almost forgive those flaws were it not for the way he used the volume of his voice. When the character spoke in a loud voice, the narrator shouted (a real problem when you are listening in a car and cannot adjust the volume quickly) and he also dropped his voice too low to understand the words at the end of sentences and other random times. Therefore, if you are driving or listening through air pods, you are always on edge because of the deafening shouts and missed words. I hope that the authors find a narrator worthy of their story in the future. Rene Auberjonois should be the standard set for the narration of the Pendergast novels.

Historia
Hugh Legat is a rising star of the British diplomatic service, serving at 10 Downing Street as a private secretary to the Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain. Paul von Hartmann is on the staff of the German Foreign Office - and secretly a member of the anti-Hitler resistance. The two men were friends at Oxford in the 1920s, but have not been in contact since. Now, when Hugh flies with Chamberlain from London to Munich, and Hartmann travels on Hitler's train overnight from Berlin, their paths are set on a disastrous collision course.

A Thoughtful Narrative for Our Time
Revisado: 04-12-19
This excellently narrated novel is a perfect reflection of the current times, even though it is set in the early days of Hitler.
