Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Absolute gem
Revisado: 05-09-24
I read the reviews and thought that good or bad, I wanted to hear this story, but I was still surprised at how great it was. The author keeps you guessing and guessing, and still, when reality hits, it is actually no surprise at all. The podcast parts give it another edge that I really enjoyed, as I listen to plenty of true crime podcasts. Finally, the narrator is just awesome. I just finished the book and I am tempted to listen to the whole thing right away, just to get ahold of more of the nuances with the information I now have.

Historia
Three years ago in a large Victorian house on the Jersey Shore in the town of Harbor Haven, fledgling private investigator Paul and his client, Maxie Malone, were murdered. Since then, recent divorcée and reluctant ghost whisperer Alison Kerby and her 10-year-old daughter, Melissa, have moved in and converted the place to a guesthouse, where Maxie and Paul are now checked in for an eternity and ready to solve any case that comes their way - or at least spook the guests (who love it). Alison’s got a lot on her plate at the moment, however, so when Paul discovers the 300-year-old ghost of a small boy in the house, he decides not to involve her in the case.

Terrible
Revisado: 01-09-23
Having mostly enjoyed all the other books in this series, this one went on my dnf list. The narrator was absolutely horrible - his voice for both Maxie and Melissa were sneering and felt condescending and overplayed. I do enjoy Amanda Ronconi a lot, so the contrast was absolutely grating.... I came back to see some of the other reviews and see how the subject of this stort story is also very problematic.

Kevin Hearne has absolutely done it again
Revisado: 05-14-21
I was an avid reader of the Iron druid chronicles and was a bit weary after seeing reviews of this book - but it was brilliant. It was impossible to stop listening and so I enjoyed the entire thing in less than 24 hours. The narrator does use a thick Scottish accent with a few misses on pronunciation but not too bad. I did have to listen closely at first but got used to the accent quickly. Can't wait for the next one.

Revisado: 03-20-21
I have to start by saying that I am anything but an objective reader. I have been a big fan of Stephen King since the beginning and there is only 1 of his books, which I have not read and don't own. Let me start by saying, that I have only one single issue with this book - it is simply not long enough. The narrator does a great job portraying a young boy growing up with a special gift. I loved it from start to finish and will be enjoying it many times in the future.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Trevor Noah is a genius
Revisado: 10-04-20
Absolutely heart warming narrative about a boy growing up under apartheid and becoming a man. Trevor Noah narrating his own childhood and youth is both brilliant and unmissable. I know that I will enjoy this book many times. And I'm a huge fan of both him and his mom. I highly recommend this book if you need some good laughs and an occasional good cry. Best spent credit in a looong time.

Historia
Narrated by Emmy Award–winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home—part of the Greatest Generation—who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts: the rationing of meat, dairy products, and sugar; an explosion of war-related jobs; and, despite mixed signals, a greater role for women working outside the home.

Surprisingly brilliant
Revisado: 02-22-20
I thought I would try out this audiobook, as it was narrated by one of my favourite actors, Martin Sheen. Surprisingly, I learned a lot. The stories of this particular era were told in a loving and compelling way, the narrator interspersed with the voices of people having lived it. Worth a listen.

story perfect, book ruind by music
Revisado: 09-15-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Honestly, I can't imagine how anybody could enjoy this version of the book. While the actual Stephen King novel is another little marvellous masterpiece, this version has been entirely ruined by loud, horrid music.. I sincerely hope a new reader of Stephen King does not start with listening to this book.. buy the paperback instead. Or start with the audible version of the Stand or Duma Key, both lovely books with very well rendered audible versions.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Ralph - as the main character, we do follow him and get to know his inherent humanity.
Would you be willing to try another one of Eli Wallach’s performances?
No - However good he is, he is not suited for Stephen King - and Stephen King is not suited for him
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Insomnia?
None - Stephen King has created one of his usual masterpieces - I will just have to go and purchase it as a regular book instead, as I cannot bear to listen to more of this.
Any additional comments?
Stop putting musical tracks and annoying noises on books - it ruins the entire experience. If people want to listen to music, there are so many options to get that - no need to make large parts of the book impossible to actually hear. So dissatisfied

Quaint, sweet and naive
Revisado: 03-01-11
I was very taken with the story of this wonderful book, which can be read and heard by anyone - teenager or grown-up alike. The entire book is very sweet and almost naive, but at the same time, there are both scary characters and children as heroes. The main character, Nobody Owens, is very innocent but at the same time strong and open to all the things. I highly recommend this book - I heard it in one fell swoop and could not bear to press pause. The author is very talented, painting pictures with every word!
