This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

People who really, really get into the day-by-day details of political figures.

Would you ever listen to anything by Roy Jenkins again?

Not if it's this long. I think this book would have been much better if it was 1/5 as long as it is.

What three words best describe Robert Whitfield’s voice?

Good, nice, adequate

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Sure. There was plenty that I didn't know about Churchill -- his personal life, his upbringing, his participation in the Boer War, and his drinking problem, and his belief to a fault in the power of summitry. The part that concentrated on his leadership during and after WWII was very good, but too brief.

Any additional comments?

I almost ended my new habit of listening to books on account of this one.

What made the experience of listening to Inside Apple the most enjoyable?

The fact that it was done so well, covered so much ground, got into the personal and professional details of the story without getting caught in the hype, was very impressive. This book didn't just tell an important story, it provided useful information that can be dissected, argued about, and contribute to our understanding of the tapestry that is today's business and management environment.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I didn't have one specific character that was my favorite. In fact, most of the characters seem like they are hard to know -- a little mysterious -- which probably adds to the allure of the overall story. Nothing quite so appealing as a little mystery.

Which character – as performed by Adam Lashinsky – was your favorite?

None in particular

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Once I got going, it was hard to put down.

Any additional comments?

One of the best books about business that I have gone through.

Would you consider the audio edition of Enterprise to be better than the print version?

I'm sure the print version has loads of pictures -- I missed having these to look through.

What other book might you compare Enterprise to and why?

There's plenty of books I have read about ships and their histories - "The Terrible Hours" about the USS Squalus, "Assault on the Liberty", "Duel between the Ironclads," to name but a few. There are several other books about aircraft and their crews - "Dauntless Helldivers", "Fork-Tailed Devil", "Lady be Goode", "A Missing Plane." I'm ignoring the books that covered entire campaigns. Probably some others that I'm forgetting.

Which character – as performed by Tom Weiner – was your favorite?

The character of "Bulk Head", though brief, was memorable. There were plenty of other characters as well, but I can't name them. (I listened to the book several months ago.)

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I thought I knew a lot of the history of the ship & crew and wanted to fill in the blanks. I was vastly mistaken -- there was a ton that I did not know.

Any additional comments?

Excellent book. If there is a way to add digital pictures to the recording, this would vatly increase the overall listening experience.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

It was too long. This book could have been abridged without losing much

Would you ever listen to anything by Jane McGonigal again?

Probably not, though you never know. Though I think she did a good job researching the role games had and continue to have in society, I think some directions she went were a little too bizarre for what I had in mind.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Julia Whelan?

I don't choose books based on who narrates them.

Do you think Reality Is Broken needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. Too long as it is.

Any additional comments?

This book took me a long time to get through. It wasn't that it was difficult. It was just a little creepy in some ways (making a game out of visiting cemeteries, trying to pass off participation in multi-player shoot-em-up games as being involved in something bigger than oneself, etc...) There was a lot of research to back up her themes, though some of it sounded superfluous. I was looking for a book about gaming and business. There is good content in this regard, but there was too much 'gaming will save the world' kind of themes. I'll need to get another book that sticks to gaming and business.
