Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

I don’t want to talk to your personality; I want to talk to your soul. Imagine if your most painful and debilitating mental health symptoms and self-sabotaging behaviors aren’t evidence of 'disorder' or 'dysfunction', but adaptive strategies that once kept you safe. My goal is to help you shift from asking ‘What’s wrong with me?’ to ‘What happened to me?’The word ‘borderline’ in this podcast isn’t about psychiatric labels. It’s about coming back from the inner psychological brink we all experience. Everyone has found themselves on the edge, in that liminal space where the...

View from a parents eye
Revisado: 09-06-21
This Podcast has helped me incredibly. As a parent of a fourteen year old daughter who has not “officially” been diagnosed with BPD, but displays all of the characteristics, BFTB has helped open my eyes. I have been unable to understand what my daughter is going through, as she has never been able to talk to me about what she’s feeling. Hearing all of this explained through the experiences of Mollie, and her guests really has changed the way I see behaviors with her. There is invaluable information here.

Good book for a third grader
Revisado: 07-06-21
I expected this book to be geared towards adults readers/listeners. I felt the the material covered was quite elementary level. I felt the narrator sounded like a children’s book narrator. If you a fairly intelligent adult, I’m not sure this is the book for you. But it could be very interesting for 8-12 year olds.

Historia
An honest and compelling memoir, Girl in Need of a Tourniquet is Merri Lisa Johnson’s account of her borderline personality disorder and how it has affected her life and relationships. Johnson describes the feeling of "bleeding out" unable to tell where she stopped and where her partner began. A self-confessed "psycho girlfriend," she was influenced by many emotional factors from her past. She recalls her path through a dysfunctional, destructive relationship, while recounting the experiences that brought her to her breaking point.

Hard to follow
Revisado: 04-26-21
The story is very hard to follow until the last chapter. Maybe this was done to show that the author’s clarity of thought or lack of clarity. I almost stopped listening halfway through because it was so disjointed at times, but I did want to find out how it ended. I think the story is ok, but again, very hard to follow.
