Enjoyed the story not the Author's narration.

What didn’t you like about David Duchovny’s performance?

This is one example of why I don't usually like author narrations. At times it sounded as if the author was bored to tears, at others he couldn't race through the story fast enough. The beginning in particular was in such a monotone that it was difficult to get into the story. But once I got into it, I enjoyed the story. Just wish authors would give credit to the professional narrators who bring so much to an audio book.

I know the book has a good message, but the constant use of etc. every few sentences was extremely annoying to me. I also found the reader (who is also the author) saying "quote unquote" before every quotation was similarly annoying and distracting. I know the author wrote this in her own "voice" (or should I say quote unquote voice) but I think the audio book would have benefited from a professional narrator rather than being read by the author.
