Some writers spend chapters describing the lace on a tablecloth ( this is just an example from another author). Ms Breene establishes her scene by weaving the description into the way the character feels about it. She got me at Burberry with the first book. Sin and Surrender is both brilliant and bittersweet. I don’t like endings because I want to keep going back to that world. Every character is well written, faults and all. Alexis has never been the perfect protagonist. We see her faults- clumsy, speaks before she thinks, self doubt, chaotic but her weaknesses are also her greatest strengths. She is the kickass underdog. This book does not feel like an ending, more like a bon voyage for everyone. Everyone is given the chance to shine, even the cats! Also, big big props for being absolutely hilarious!
Ms Hvam is the perfect narrator. She breathes life into all of them. Her different voices for each character kept me not only in the story, but in the world that was masterfully created and narrated.
Congratulations to both talented artists for this series and I’m really praying to the gods, demigods, even the cats that this story continues.

The narration made it difficult to finish.

Change the narrator

I couldn’t get into the story with the very distracting narration. I expected a Dr Seuss line to pop out. Radclyffe has some of the greatest narrators from Abby Craden to Betsy Zajko who can convey more serious tones when needed. This narrator should stay with children’s books.
