Historia
People starting out in business tend to seek step-by-step formulas or rules, but in reality there are no magic bullets. Rather, says veteran company-builder Norm Brodsky, there's a mentality that helps street- smart entrepreneurs solve problems and pursue opportunities as they arise. Brodsky shares his hard-earned wisdom every month in Inc. magazine, in the hugely popular "Street Smarts" column he cowrites with Bo Burlingham. Now they've adapted their best advice into a comprehensive guide for anyone running a small business.

Not for me
Revisado: 07-19-22
I'm not a fan of crime drama, but the premise sounded interesting, so I thought I'd give the audio book it a try.
Plot was predictable, yet not very believable.
Four women find themselves widows when their significant others all die in a plane crash together, and now they're lives are being threatened and must get a large amount of cash ($4M) and answers to things they know nothing about.
Without giving anything away, many conclusions were reached quickly by women not very knowledgeable in the subject matter. Personalities clashed, but resolved *quickly* and no hard feelings linger (which I find highly unbelievable).
I did enjoy that each character has a very different personality, and the narration/acting was good.
Again, I'm a little biased, so if you like simple crime dramas, you may feel differently, but this wasn't a favorite for me.

It seems like the perfect job. Great wages, accommodation provided and all located within the walls of Highwood Hall, a stunning stately home owned by the Howard family. Not many little girls dream of becoming a maid, but this is an opportunity for me to get back on my feet. And for me to revisit my past....

Thoroughly enjoyed
Revisado: 05-05-22
Story was good and although I predicted the "mystery" the characters were well developed and interesting.
There were a lot of characters to keep up with while listening to the audiobook, but it got easier.
I'm a fan of Moriarty and I would recommend this book to others.

When two Union soldiers stumble onto a plantation in northern Georgia on a warm May day in 1864, the last thing they expect is to see the Union flag flying high - or to be greeted by a group of freed slaves and their Jewish mistress. Little do they know that this place has an unusual history. Twelve years prior, Adelaide Mannheim - daughter of Mordecai, the only Jewish planter in the county - was given her own maid, a young slave named Rachel. The two became friends, and soon they discovered a secret.

If you were one of King Henry VIII's six wives, who would you be? Would you be Anne Boleyn, who literally lost her head? Would you be the subject of rumor and scandal like Catherine Howard? Or would you get away and survive like Anna of Cleves? Meet them and Henry's other queens - each bound for divorce or death - in this epic and thrilling novel that reads like fantasy but really happened.

Very thought provoking. Each character had their own story with a different perspective and from a different place in time. I even find myself using words that were used in the "future" narrative.

Historical & Depressing; Izzy's not the main story
Revisado: 02-12-15
Any additional comments?
Two stories, somewhat intertwined. Main story: Its late 1920's and Claire is sent to an asylum, just because her wealthy and powerful parents want her to marry someone else, and her boyfriend is not "good enough". Doctors do not believe she is sane and keep her committed, against her will.
I found the narrator's interpretation of the boyfriend (Bruno), who is supposed to be Italian, annoying because he definitely had a Russian accent. I didn't care for the narrator's other characters, but Bruno was the worst.
Depressing that this could happen, how people were treated, and truly mentally ill people were misunderstood.

Interesting & Unexpected!
Revisado: 11-10-14
Any additional comments?
Do you ever finish a book, and *immediately* want to pick it up and re-read it??? I've read several Jodi Picoult books, and frankly was a little tired of the same MO, but this book was probably the best one I've read!
Its also written from several character's perspectives, and like her other stories, this a journey kept me wondering how it would end. Just when I thought I knew, it took a radically different direction! WOW!
I love animals, and like Lone Wolf, this was packed with lots of animal facts (about elephant's behavior, mentality, herd dynamics, maternal care, etc) woven into the story.
Definitely recommended!
