Started not bad maintained it for a bit and then threw it all away.

the religious stuff was heavy but author warns everyone from the start. I can live with that. characters made some really dumb decisions, meh it happens and wasn't story breaking. what ruined it all was when the MCs abandon everything and cut and run on their friends. The sudden betrayal and utter cowardice is despicable and completely out of character. it's disgusting. And even though the military shows up and saved some of the people, The MCs act more "oh phew, we survived" than guilty over cutting and running out when their friends needed them most. Totally abhorrent. I will not be reading anything by this author again.

too much jumping around.

great idea, good narration, but man the story jumps from group to group so much. you get what feels like 3 minutes of story with a group and boom your off to someone else. And you constantly are left with a cliffhanger Every Single Time. And most of the characters are completely stupid. I don't mean that initial oh craap zombies are real and I have to come to terms with it stupid that is kind of understandable, I mean constantly making dumb decisions the whole story. would it kill them to carry some weapons? or at least look for some more? I liked the idea of the story and the supernatural part was at least different from most zombie stories. But I wanted to strangle the writer about a hour into it because of the jumping around.

This is the start of one of my favorite series. and yeah, I know about New Spring, and it's a good book, but Eye of the World is where I first started. Rosamund Pike does a great job with Narration. Which is why I am a little irritated about how the Amazon show is utter garbage. True her portrayal of Moraine is great, the changes to the story are horrible. plus the ridiculous short number of episodes they tried to cram a whole book into. garbage. utter garbage. But this, the actual book, this is amazing and I love every moment of the book. Read/listen to the books. I recommend staying away from the show.

Great story, Narration TERRIBLE!

love the story. Hope to see more of these characters. or at least more short stories like them. HOWEVER the narration is crap. same monotonous voice. no change between character voices, no emphasis or inflection. makes this very hard to focus on. almost ruins the story entirely. definitely takes away from the experience. Please don't use the AI voice anymore.

I liked the story. it advanced the world, it felt like a great continuation of the Dead America books. However, AI narration is terrible. same monotonous voice for every character, mispronounced words, no inflection, no pausing for dramatic moments. It made it really hard to keep going. There where times the droning of the voice was so dull I zoned out and had to rewind a bit just to catch back up with the details. Please, no more AI narration.

Awesome story, annoying narration.

I really enjoy Terry Brooks' Shannara series. that being said, the narrator drove me insane with his pronunciation of "Shannara". I literally was correcting him out loud every time he mispronounced it. It's the series title. How do you get that wrong??? Otherwise it wasn't bad. a bit monotonous but I have heard worse.

it was ok. I liked the story some but the way it was written made me feel like I was watching one of those goofball anime shows that are annoying with some actual humor here and there. some of that feeling may have been from the performance. the voices certainly helped that feeling.

Loved the story. Narrator made me cringe every single time he tried to voice a female character. I had a really hard time getting through this. The story was the only thing that let me power through the narration.

abridged version is a butchery.

they took an awesome book and murdered it. I have read the book many times. i found this abridged copy here on audible and thought it would be great to have. I was wrong. the narrater was ok but many of his pronunciations where off from how they where said in the movies. the music was a good accompaniment except for being too loud. several passages made it hard to hear the story. the abridgement itself was terrible. they ripped entire scenes from the story including some important development. then they butchered the dialog in several ways that took alot from the reading. I was extremely disappointed in this. Definitely need an unabridged copy.
