Historia
Written by G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy addresses foremost one main problem: How can we contrive to be at once astonished at the world and yet at home in it? Chesterton writes, "I wish to set forth my faith as particularly answering this double spiritual need, the need for that mixture of the familiar and the unfamiliar which Christendom has rightly named romance."

Historia
This is a collection of 14 works of biblical apocrypha for students of lost Christian writings. The Apocrypha are a loosely knit series of books, written by early vanguards of Christianity (covering the eras of both the old and new testaments), which comprise somewhere between about a dozen to several hundred titles, depending on whom you ask and how that person defines the word Apocrypha. A small selection of these can still be found included in the Catholic bible, while a majority of the books in question, were abandoned by church officials in the early centuries of Christianity.

Worst narration of all time!
Revisado: 06-26-19
after a few hours of listening I gave up. the cadence and reading quality of the narrator made the book almost impossible to listen to. The female narrator was better than the male but both made listening very difficult

Historia
What was so special about the Tyndale Bible? How does it sound to us today? The first text of the Bible to be printed in English was the New Testament of William Tyndale, published in 1525-6. Its repercussions lasted for almost a century, stimulated by the religious intolerances of the age, and Tyndale's influence can be seen in most of the Bible translations over the next 100 years, not least in the language of the King James Bible of 1611 - as this recording of Saint Matthew’s Gospel in the pronunciation of Tyndale’s own time makes vividly clear.

wonderful way to experience the 16th century and get a feel for the history of the English language. Tyndale was an absolute master at the English language and its translation from the Greek text.

For rare-book collectors, an original copy of the Gutenberg Bible - of which there are fewer than 50 in existence - represents the ultimate prize. Here, Margaret Leslie Davis recounts five centuries in the life of one copy, from its creation by Johannes Gutenberg, through the hands of monks, an earl, the Worcestershire sauce king, and a nuclear physicist to its ultimate resting place, in a steel vault in Tokyo.

For those who collect books or love books this is the story of the quintessential acquisition. the irony in the world of valuable collecting is that the acquisition ceases to be about knowledge but about the quest itself.

Strong storyline with even stronger language!
Revisado: 09-21-17
Interesting and well researched. However, Berry seems overly and unnecessarily obsessed with sex and crude language. Berry leaves little to the imagination and takes what otherwise should have been a great historical mystery appropriate for all audiences and turns it into a mildly pornographic thriller.
