"God’s Tender Mercies offers hope that a lost and obscure soul can recognize, embrace, and be transformed by the marvelous work and wonder that is the restored gospel. As we progress through this vulnerably personal narrative, we see a directionless boy become a man of profound faith."

OH. MY. GOSH.
Revisado: 01-16-23
Ok. First, you need to know a few things about me. The most important things, I'm saving for last...
1: Religious based books are not generally my cup of tea...like, at all.
2: I have combined ADHD, so unless the narrator is phenomenal, or at LEAST capable of of keeping my attention AND the story is captivating, I will lose interest.
(Not Joking. My library is 95% fantasy fiction, 1% foreign language, 1% ADHD book (not plural) and 3% memoirs.
So please appreciate how mesmerized I had to have been, for me to stay up all night long listening to this book, when I was already sleep deprived, and feeling like doodoo.
I. could. not. stop.
3: I almost crapped myself (metaphorically)
when he described MULTIPLE parts of his story, because I have had my own experiences that I swear were JUST LIKE THAT!
His conversion, when he prayed to know if it was true, and the indescribable love and peace and joy and conviction that he could just never deny.... YES.
Even in my deepest darkest of addictions, I would throw hands with anyone who tried to talk crap about the church.
And THEN the overwhelming evil that enveloped him that made it so he couldn't even speak....
I'VE EXPERIENCED THAT TOOOOO!
I literally prayed fervently to be saved, and then it dissipated, and I had missionaries come bless my home. ... They almost peed themselves when they realized I wasn't just an overly anxious mom who wanted a blessing on her home, and that there was actually something THERE, because you could FEEL it the moment it left!
Prophetic dreams, and ....similarities that just...
oh myLANTA! .... I'm so grateful for this guys book!
Never judge a book by its cover, that's for sure!
It might be simple, and unassuming...
but it is RICH AND POWERFUL!
So glad I felt the unexpected need to get this book.
...HA! Hahahaaaaa!
OH! I love the irony!
I'm dyyyyinnngggg!
I bet God is chuckling right now....

When a little girl, all alone in the big bad woods, lets it slip that she's on her way to visit her sick gran, I can't help but take advantage. Don't judge me. I'm hungry, and let's be real...what tastes better than a meal that doesn't struggle—much? Little do I know, my bloodthirsty plot is about to be foiled by a set of five werewolves that have decided to eat gran, take her place, and eat the little girl! I wish I had thought of that last bit myself. The worst part is that I have been a lone vampire for years now, so I have no one to watch my back.

woops. Didn't know it was erotic... awkwarddd
Revisado: 01-10-23
I made the mistake of expecting a nice nerdy fantasy fiction, and not really looking at what I was getting. I think it was during Halloween, and I was hoping for something that would be just a little spicy, but also a little scary since I'm kind of a weenie. And when I say a little spicy, I mean maybe a little bit of werewolf/vampire make out session or mayyybe some neck biting or something. wuh-ohhh...
My first red flag was the F bomb being dropped...twice... within the first little bit. Do I stop listening? No.... Because I'm a bit of a weirdo when it comes to needing closure, and knowing how a story ends...
And THEN kaBAM! Body parts are being exposed, and I was hoping profusely that my eldest didn't hear the stuff that was coming from my phone, before I had the good sense to turn the volume down, as I gaped in slack jaw disbelief. She's 21, but STILL.... awwwwkwaaaarddd....
The narrator does a really good job with accents, and emotional climate though! (I'm fairly certain, at least... I was pretty distracted by all the explicit...everything. lol
I cannot in good conscience give the story or overall more than one star each. It was so...vulgar.
BUT, I must give credit where credit is due.
I'm seriously picky with narrators, (ADHD brain) and I really hope this guy narrates some non explicit books, because he's got a lovely voice, and wonderful talent. Sigh...I need to move to Scotland. Or marry a dude who can do accents. haha!
Welp, thank you all for enduring my insanely long ADHD charged comment.
I'm gonna get a refund, and then go listen to inspiring music on repeat, as I contemplate my life choices.
It's ok to laugh... I laugh at myself every day.

Story is fine, narrator not so much.
Revisado: 02-18-22
Hmph.. A few things.
As someone with ADHD, I need a narrator to be really good to keep my attention.
I read the reviews, and should have taken them more seriously.
She does not keep my attention, except
to irritate me.
She picks and chooses when she wants to pronounce words properly, and utterly butchers other words or names entirely. ( Example: She pronounced Gerbert all "frenchy" but pronounces Marthe like Marth!")
I can't. I just can't. GAAAHHHH!
And her voice is.. I dunno...gruff? Like she just woke up after a night of karaoke and second hand smoke...
I'm a few chapters in, and I stopped to write this review.
I don't even want to keep listening!
Do the folks in charge ever listen to the finished product? Or do you simply have to have a voice box to be narrator these days?
I haven't experienced such intense disappointment and dislike for a narrator since Twilight... but I think I'd rather listen to a horribly butchered version of Bella, than this poop.
I will keep the book, because I want to have the collection. But I can't keep listening, or I'll end up throwing my phone out the window.
If you have been spoiled by great narrators, I don't recommend this. at all.
just.. go. run. fast. far away!
Don't waste your credit OR your money!

Historia
When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, listeners can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun. This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire.

Good job Jake Abel!
Revisado: 08-18-20
I really appreciated the narrator for this audiobook. I appreciate romance and honor and faith and trust and ...Le sigh.. love. I admit I felt confused about the end when Stephenie Meyer was reading out loud her acknowledgments for who helped her with the book. Um... Steph? How about a loving acknowledgment to Heavenly Father? And Jesus? For the inspiration and energy and focus needed to get the book written...AND published too! C'mon now... I really appreciated the creativity and unique quality of this wonderful fantasy fiction. I am intrigued by the idea of good vampires because I enjoy the concept of immortals who would be good and loving and caring and who love God and believe in God and have faith in Him. I am also a loving "nerd" who has a strong love for God and His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing - not even a smear of blood - to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

Revisado: 07-30-20
I love this series! I'm addicted to The Mortal Instruments series, so I think that helps. The narrator isn't horrible. (like the Twilight Series, or The Host...grrr) I may just have been spoiled by reeeeeaaally good narrators. (Tatyana Maslany, Jennifer Ikeda, Jim Dale, Gerard Doyle, Kevin T Collins .) However, I DO think she's got potential! I just need more...oomph. Try a sample. She's not awful.

I love this. If you feel overwhelmed, or hopeless, or alone, this book is for you. I am so thankful that I used my last credit, and don't regret it at all. (For book freaks who like to collect series... that's a big deal.) My favorite part was when she went to speak at a girls camp, with a migraine...I burst into tears....( again...) She has such a beautiful way of making you cry GOOD tears. - And she conveys emotion soooo well! I freaking loved it. (I said that already...)

I am addicted to the work of Rick Riordan. Books are my drug. And he is one of my dealers.
But Zeus almighty, WHO picked this narrator?
Does this guy just guess how to pronounce stuff? Or does he do it on purpose, in some evil vendetta against book lovers?
I wanted to become a narrator out of sheer love of reading aloud and bringing stories to life.
Now I have a new motive. (Or rather, another one) To prevent further butchering of stories!
